OP can you expand on why accounting is so stressful? I was thinking of trying to get into the field, but I know that 50 work weeks are common and there's a sort of "crunch" time when it comes to tax season. If this true? Are there any highlights to the field or should I look elsewhere?

Also, what would you have majored in instead?

Women were, and some still are, treated like cattle within the institution of marriage. Marriage used to be a transaction between two men: the father paid the husband-to-be with his daughter's reproductive labor and dowry so he would have one less mouth to feed. An untold number of women were "sold" and raped this way.

I hate modern work culture, but at least I'm being metaphorically fucked instead of literally. I think instead of romanticizing the past you should look into the modern homesteading movement.

Because that would mean you're acting like an individual, which ultimately makes it harder to coerce you to accept the corporation's ideology via social pressure. 🧟‍♂️

TOO REAL! 👏 👏

I experienced this at my last job--all of my more "successful" coworkers were the ones that stayed up drinking with each other and the boss on weekdays and weekends. I had no desire to get shitfaced in front of the people who cut my checks and preferred to have time to myself at home. Unsurprisingly, I didn't last long there.

The omnipresent influence of the social hierarchy within every corporation is depressing af.

Dang!! Sounds like things have been shit for you recently. Your cortisol levels and blood pressure have probably been giving you the headaches. Wishing things get better for you, and soon!

Dreams where your teeth fall out could be indicative of you grinding your teeth while you sleep. Grinding your teeth can REALLY damage them (and it sounds soooooo nasty like someone chewing rocks--find a vid on YouTube for an example) so maybe the dreams are your subconscious alerting you that you're putting waaaaay too much pressure on your teeth. I grind my teeth in my sleep and my jaw muscles and tooth enamel have suffered as a result.

Buy a nighttime mouthguard and these dreams should resolve themselves! You should also talk to your dentist about tooth grinding the next time you visit them.

Great article, "forewarned is forearmed" indeed. Thanks OP!

Short answer: No

Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The number #1 piece of advice young atheists give one another is to NOT tell your religious parents (or any religious guardian you are financially dependent on) that you're an atheist until you have an adequate level of education and have 100% control over your own finances and housing. It's literally in the FAQ for the atheist subreddit.

It sucks not being able to live authentically, but it sucks 100% more if even just one of your parents feels threatened by your heresy and decides to take away all the privileges you now enjoy. It's not worth the risk.

Keep venting!!

That said, this might be a weird thing to do, but think of all the hours that you have to wear hijab and long clothes out in public and calculate that you're making the minimum wage while you wear them. Now it will feel a little less oppressive, because instead of being completely forced into complying with your parents demands, you are now an actress playing the role of a good muslim girl and you are getting paid in the food, housing, transportation, and education that your parents provide for you.

Once you get to university 22 will come fast!

Different strokes for different folks--you don't like negativity in an ideology, yet continue to worship one that dooms others to eternal torture for thinking differently. Even the most compassionate churches can't overturn the word of God, and the bible repeatedly mentions how he wants heathens to suffer. That suffering bit might not be the focus of your strain of religion, but it's a significant element nonetheless. Unless you don't believe in hell?

When atheists point this out (torturing people for thinking differently is bad, and Christianity supports it no matter how liberal your church is) that's when Christians get defensive--but why?

If you fully believe in the righteousness of your religion (or your political candidate) then the "negative" aspects shouldn't upset you. Atheists focus on the negative aspects of Christianity because if your religion/God turns out to be true then our asses are tortured toast--even if we're good people. And that's a dick move no matter what flowery language describes it.

But the heart of the matter comes down to whatever one side considers "bashing" when it's merely a different opinion. AKA, lots of believers can dish out criticism, but they can't take it.

Christians/Muslims/Jews LITERALLY believe that atheists/heathens will be eternally tortured in an underground prison for all eternity because they don't think the "the right way". They have the right to believe so, but that's not going to stop me from joking about it. 😈😈

On the flip side, atheists saying things like: "Jesus didn't exist" or "Muhammad was a pedophile" triggers every Abrahamic believer ever and is considered "bashing".

Let's use the different political parties as an example--is it "bashing" to say that the current president is grossly unfit for office or is it a difference of opinion? Should people expressing those views shut up and stop their criticism for the sake of an ever-changing definition of "bashing" or even better, "fake news"? 🤔🤔

You realize the the majority of atheists in the sub used to be Christians, right? They critique Christianity so much because that's the religion that they know the most about.

Islam and Judaism aren't off-limits at all, but you would get that impression if you visited the sub once in order to satiate your victim complex.

Are you also offended when you visit Democrat subs and they complain about Republicans?

Sorry we're committing thought crime against your own personal beliefs.

Congratulations!! You have just become an actress--or at least that's what I thought about my similar situation. Thinking about the religious ceremonies you have to go through to live a normal life is a lot easier when you consider yourself an actress.

Think of it this way: Have to say prayers you don't believe in? Have to spend hours in the mosque? Consider it a way to earn tuition money. After all, it sounds like your Dad would withhold money and pull you out of school if you admitted your heresy. This may feel unnatural and depressing at first, but realize that acting the right way to the right people can SAVE YOUR LIFE. Your pious acting role should be something you can slip into as easy as putting on a jacket.

Feel no shame in it--you're not the first person to have to do this, and you won't be the last. In a way, your Dad is paying for you to act the pious part. You're already a heretic, yet the sky hasn't fallen becuase you have sufficiently acted the part of a good Muslim girl.

Keep it up, and you'll be able to access significantly more opportunities to escape than if your parents think you're losing faith. In a way, you are hiding in plain sight. For example: you want to study abroad or get a job overseas, not to experience more freedom and secularism, but because those nasty western infidels are denouncing the word of Mohammed and you are COMPELLED to go and defend Islam. This method has worked for me for years, and I recommend it. Best of luck.

Thank you for the post rec!!

Sorry, could you elaborate on whether kiku caused your FA or not? I have a brand new bottle I'm ready to try out but these comments have stopped me dead in my tracks!

Is there something in the kiku lotion that causes FA, and if so is this a common problem when using the lotion?

sunscreenonface

I'll be sure to ask about it! Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful response. Since my teeth are potentially out of their zone of balance do you think it would be a good idea to have the bottom permenant retainer removed after my frenectomy?

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll start to look for a Schwab branch in my area.

Thank you so much for breaking everything down! Definitely interested in the Vanguard LifeStrategy Growth fund and the Vanguard target retirement fund. Now I have a better understanding of how Vanguard works. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks for the info, I just seem to learn better and retain more knowledge when I have someone to talk to in person. Totally agree that passive indexing is the way to go.

sunscreenonface

Thanks for the response. Ideally I would just open an account online with Vanguard and transfer the money over, right? I also really like talking with people in person, so is there way to find a Vanguard representative in my area to discuss more details?
