Man's perspective if that's ok: sounds like the guy you were made to think you're dating is not the guy you're actually dating, in a lot of ways. So I wouldn't feel bad about breaking up with him, since you were never actually dating him - just some other guy who you don't really know and probably wouldn't have continued seeing if you had known.
