Yeah, I do think they would still understand the chip inside is the problem, given they have already spoken to Hellman, vs Song's problems are caused by what seems to be repeat exposure to the Blackwall AI. Tbh I still find it incredible they did any kind of cure ending with NUSA in the DLC to begin with. Given neither Arasaka or Alt (the creator of Soulkiller) can stop their own tech, I would have expected NUSA to fail as well.

I just don't know why V would jump to a conclusion that what Songbird is suffering from is the same as what the Relic is doing. The relic is Arasaka tech, Cynosure is NUSA tech and you would still presumably need someone scientific enough to change it to cure V (if that was even possible).

Up until the DLC, nothing has gone particularly well in terms of dealing with the relic. Tbh I found her offer dubious at best to begin with, even before I found out she was lying.

She is the one that raises the possibility of a cure for V. She could just offer money, some tech and tell V the Cynosure business is something she needs to unlock her Cyberware etc. Cure for V doesn't even need to be an option. We take gigs for money as a merc (not just for a cure) and if V does happen to be kind/for the little man then screwing Myers and NUSA in the process is an added bonus.

On the contrary, if she had just told me she was being forced to go out past the Blackwall and it was killing her and she wanted to escape I would have liked her miles more and just sided with her.

She tells a dying person they can get cured, knowing there is no cure (or at best only speculating there is a cure) and that they are dying. That to lie would be to have them use up what little time left under false pretences. Having seen family members go through severe illness, if someone strung them along like that I would never respect or want to help them.

I don't care that she eventually tells V. V never had a true choice till that moment in time and either choice imo is valid depending on how much you like her/want to forgive/sympathise with her.

Personally I take the Reed path in the DLC and never get to her confession. She made me uncomfortable as soon as she forcefully blocked Johnny at the very start and always seemed to be telling half truths. The truth about the cure is kinda metagaming anyway.

There's maybe a bit of light chemistry after his first mission (don't remember off of the top of my head), but that's well before the issue with his nephew.

And yeah agreed, the dinner happens as a thank you after he is rescued. You could chalk the family banter down to the fact that River is probably not that good at hiding his feelings around his family and they pick up on it. There was no ambushing at all. People are allowed to talk about having feelings for someone and if you shoot him down at the water tower, he lets it go quite easily.

Don't know why everyone loves to hate on the guy so much.

Imo I felt all the companions in BG3 boiled down to a generic character trope in the end and you either pushed them towards un-ideal version of themselves or less problematic version.

While they were decently written and well voiced, if I can boil down a character to a single trope I don't think they had enough depth. I also felt like you had to almost baby/parent the BG3 party members.

Rogue Trader from Owlcat had the companions change what they did just based on choices or random offhand comments the RT made, rather than Larian's approach of Tav slapping Gale's wrist whenever he reaches for the crown. I also don't recall BG3 having anything near as well written as the dynamic between Legion and Tali in ME3 if you end up getting them to respect each other.

sweetsushiroll

I found the main plot of BG3 incredibly generic, character writing reasonably decent but not stellar. I feel like I am in the minority that would put BG3 at like an 8/10 bc of that.

IMO Owlcat's story (and character) writing is better in Pathfinder and particularly in Rogue Trader (was my GoTY when I finally played it last year). 2077s plot isn't too complicated but IMO CDPRs writing is very reallistic and I really liked their narrative with V. Overall I just really came away with a more memorable story experience from Rogue Trader than BG3.

sweetsushiroll

Yeah I know haha. I was just already tired out by the main choices and have done 2 of the 4 main endings already, but only one PL ending offers an alternative ending from memory.

sweetsushiroll

1am for me tonight then....guess I play in the morning.

sweetsushiroll

Of the base game right? I checked half an hour ago and the update isn't out yet is it? (It's the 22nd where I live lol).

sweetsushiroll

I still haven't finished my first PL playthrough so..good timing lol.

sweetsushiroll

I still haven't finished my first playthrough of PL. I keep delaying finishing bc I don't like the choices, good thing I did given this update. I can enjoy the new content now.

I mean I think maybe different circles then lol? Personally I think it's like a relationship/family thing.

Usually feet get quite sweaty at the end of the day/after being out and I can't imagine putting mine in close proximity to a friends face and assuming they were cool with it. Would definitely ask them if they were comfortable with it first, rather than just assuming it's okay in my friend group, but obviously different friend groups have different vibes.

sweetsushiroll

He is also incredibly supportive after finding out and still treats V like family despite knowing their life may be cut short.

sweetsushiroll

Putting one's feet in your "friends" lap is not "tomboy" behaviour, that's weirdly specific flirting (hence you can tell her she is getting too comfortable). I have never seen something like that happen in my circle of friends....

sweetsushiroll

Imo it is good writing that shows how much of River's background is family focused. He and his family are close and a close family would probably pick up on the "he wants to make a good impression, so he must like them vibes". The dude literally googles how to cook Jumbalya bc he wants to make a decent meal.

Time for me to whip this badboy out. As a female gamer, who played female V, I thought this was quite cute and wholesome. Kids say weird stuff, you can shut him down just fine on the tower. Maybe I am just too old or men playing as Fem V don't like experiencing this, but I had to sit through both Panam's feet and Judy's bathroom scene....

I can't put an image up in my reply, but I made a meme about this for the regular subreddit...I thought this was supposed to be the low Sodum one lol

sweetsushiroll

Too true, thank you for the positivity. There are always fromsoft purists that are like: no summons, magic is a cheese etc.

I still had to learn a lot of the boss attack patterns because most of them could close the distance rapidly and then you need to try and not die as a squishy mage. Many also needed build adjustments if they were high magic res.

The worst boss was the final boss of the DLC. I think very few people cleared the first version with magic. I could get him down halfway, but I was dealing no damage in 2nd phase and his attack patterns were insanely fast and strong. I ended up having to go back after he was adjusted, because I refused to swap out of a magic build lol.

sweetsushiroll

Have beaten every single boss (including optional and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC) in Elden Ring. Admittedly as a Magic Build, but it's the only Souls-like game I have ever been succesful at.

sweetsushiroll

I really like Alexandra as a character and her bond with Bucephalus, but I decided I wanted her on a Falicorn bc flying unicorn vibes. So now she rides Tucephalus in that route, as in the number 2 haha.

sweetsushiroll

Tbh I didn't realize how paralogues worked, so suspect I would have had more hours if I did. Would have been nice if the first paralogue on every route triggered the little info blurb. I ended up only doing Solel's on Cai's route. Good thing I plan to play all 4 part 1's lol

sweetsushiroll

I got 30 hours out of Cai's part 1. Even if we only get something like 10 hours of story content per each of the 4 sub lords, that's 40 hours of content for like $30AUD. Seems a fair exchange.

sweetsushiroll

Is it weird I thought it was not badly priced in AUD? If the 4 base new routes had been included, base game would have probably 20 AUD more expensive anyway and people already complained about the price of the base game.

I have spent 30 hours on the base game already and only completed Cai's part 1 route lol.

sweetsushiroll

My three favorite gods tbh. Smyrnos is great.
