Would it be ethical a method where I get ahead of scalpers, buy out the bigger ticket products like ETBs, resell them TO scalpers just below their own doubled premium (bc I doubt they’d buy them at their own prices), then buy a fuck of the smaller ticket items like KO boxes, tins, etc with that netted money and give them out to kids at the local library?

Do yall think that would work or is that still kind of unethical if I pocket the money I originally spent at retail

Availability doesn’t matter if they still have all the product and people still buy it from them. If people continue to buy them at high prices bc of the scarcity scalpers/vendors have manufactured, they’re not going to have any real incentive to make prices lower for people who can’t afford to justify spending $200 on a $60 product.

It definitely might, and I suppose it depends on the area, but I’ve seen em all over my city and they all seem to be thriving. It’s a great way to share with the community, I feel, even if it doesn’t last forever.

You could always put them in those neighborhood mini libraries if there’s any in your area.

They’re $4.50 at my local card shop 😅 $7 at the gas station. Insane for them to hit double digits.

Aw I appreciate that ! Yeah I looked into it yeeears ago when I was dating a UK citizen, def out of my current abilities. I’m not sure I’d qualify for asylum, but my partner and I are both in school for fields with labor shortages, and we’re both multilingual, so i can only hope we’ll check some boxes in the future :)

Some snakes do, yes ! These are Garter snakes, and Garters commonly run in groups, centered around a female—and while they don’t necessarily stay with/take care of their young specifically, they might stick around with a few of them to form a group.

Hm okay with those optics in mind than perhaps every 10 days is still okay for now, since that feeder size is a bit small (you wanna stay between 10-15% of their body weight, so in his case between 65-97g) but when you get bigger rats I would suggest spacing it out to every two weeks. It’s definitely less abt age and more abt current size, as snakes grow differently based on the individual. I have a male bp who’s massive at 1400g and another who capped around 500, and they’re roughly the same age- it just depends on their genetics.

Definitely not underweight- actually make sure you keep him on a properly spaced diet bc I feel like one big extra rat might put this snake into overweight territory lol

He looks like a perfectly healthy guy to me.

They look like they may be cysts from infection, and if that’s the case they will likely have to be surgically removed/drained and then treated with antibiotics (I recommend injection).

I’ve had a very similar situation to this and I’m so sorry. It’s absolutely infuriating what some people will do to their animals, I genuinely don’t understand why or how someone could treat these wonderful creatures the way they do. I’m glad you got her and she’s getting help, and that she thrives.

That’s such a cute idea! I’ll have to keep that in mind for halloween this year if I can get ahold of them. But that’s so incredibly true. I work at a gas station and we get them in occasionally, but we got huuuge displays of cards for PFL last year and a manager at another location bought the whole thing, display box included for $700 and sold it (including the box for $200 that he got for free) before anyone even had a chance to put it out, like it’s insane. Fortunately ours went up and I got a few, which got me back into collecting, but I had no idea it was this scarce when I made that choice :’)
