got the one i needed

great, thanks. luckily i'll have it down to the studs so i imagine the interior should be easy to deal with. you're right about the siding though.

for the window that we're making shorter, won't need to worry about siding. for the other window that we're making larger, we'll have to worry about that.

perhaps that means we should just not make the window larger an get a skylight. that's one solution to getting more light into the kitchen.

technoecologist

we plan on repainting so the color should be acceptable even with a replacement siding of some sort.

perhaps we can hide it with a planter or something like that?

technoecologist

the siding is asbestos singles in great condition. i'm not worried about 'matching' exactly. could we not use a replacement that looks like ours? we plan on repainting anyway so at least the color should match?

it won't be perfect but we could also put a planter in front if its that hideous? i guess if we wanted we could source asbestos siding, craigslist?

technoecologist

great thanks for the guidance

technoecologist

That's exactly what they are.

which one would you recommend for pvc <--> iron and pvc <--> galvanized steel?

Slice and use banded Ferncos, support with riser clamps where necessary. No sealant needed (though you can use a little soapy water if they don't wanna slip together at first).

are those banded ferncos as good as those 'no hub' style that have a larger metal sleeve around in inner 'gasket'?

technoecologist

yup, should have linked a different site....

technoecologist

got it, thanks. their flashing kit seems easy enough

technoecologist

appreciate the suggestions.

seems like the cost will be either managing little pairs of rpis + amp or losing easy of playing to different 'zones' with airplay/chromecast.

as i have it now, it's managing rpis but any device can play all 3 zones or one or two zones.

just looked at monoprice and htd. i couldn't use airplay or chromecast to play different zones. i would have to use the hardware/software provided by monoprice or HTD, is this correct? unless i plug in a separate rpi for each 'input' (red/white pairs) on the back (say of the monoprice unit)?

technoecologist

thanks, i'll try it this

great, feel like this is clear and easy to understand coupled with your previous responses. thanks.

i have a feeling i'll have to do trial and error to make sure the values for each line is what it needs to be.

working within freetaxusa, i'm sure i'll answer their questions/fill it out then finish the section and print the pdf to ensure it is populated as you indicated.

technoecologist

thanks, i'll go ahead and check out the 1040x and fill out the revised 8606.

this change doesn't actually incur any additional taxes that i would need to pay, correct? its non-deductible and i didn't deduct it originally.

technoecologist

ok, thanks.

your reply makes sense as i re-read the 8086 from 2018.

line 1: Enter your nondeductible contributions to traditional IRAs for 2018, including those made for 2018 from January 1, 2019, through April 15, 2019. See instructions i contributed $5,500 early in 2019 so should read $5,500

line 2: Enter your total basis in traditional IRAs. See instructions i did not have anything from the year before

line 3: Add lines 1 and 2 line 1: $5,500 + line 2: 0 = $5,500

line 14: Subtract line 13 from line 3. This is your total basis in traditional IRAs for 2018 and earlier years line 3: $5,500 - line 13: 0 = $5,500

there was no growth between contributing and converting.

by the way: i did this with h&r block, in-person. i specifically asked about it and the person said no problem and he's done this before. i understand they're all part-time and likely severely underpaid using 'internal' software. but with 1 data-point i'm really irritated.

what, if anything do i need to do to correct 2018's 8086 if u/wijwijwij is right?
