Absolutely talk to your guidance counselor at school. They are there to help with this and can help you find solutions and other resources. It's normal and healthy to reach out when you need help.

Check out places that are installing "New York water makers" that correct the mineral and oh levels. We have a few bagel and pizza places around Virginia and DC that do this, and people say it makes a difference!

They're only like 70 calories a pop though.

I have a partner who uses simple platitudes like that. When I want to be comforted, here's a few things that would help me:
"I hear you, that sounds really rough."
"Oof, tell me more?"
"What do you think you're going to do about it?”
"That does sound (adjective they used about the situation like difficult, stressful)"
"Let me make you dinner tonight while you take a load off/put on a show/study"
"Want to go on a walk with me about it?"
Most of the time I'm looking to engage about the topic, not be minimized and made to feel I need to stop talking about it. Hearing, "It'll get better" isn't really engaging or proactive. You can ask if she's looking just to vent or if she wants suggestions before you talk more as well. If she wants to vent, say something like please do, go right ahead, I'm here listening. If she wants suggestions, really brainstorm with her.

Put branded things in the break room with a note to take one if they want. Don't pass it off as a gift.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing, but keep sweets to a serving. That may be like 1/8th or possibly 1/4th of a crumble cookie from what I remember about their calories. I just had a bowl of cheerios which I think is totally reasonable. For the ice cream, look at the serving size and scoop that. If you want more volume, consider swapping brands to get more bang for your carbs.

How old are you?

You like cookies because they're formulated to be addictive and delicious. You can like cookies. You could have two cookies every single day after a satiating dinner. You liking cookies has nothing to do with morality, it's a fact that cookies are delicious. Log it as info, and then have a serving of cookies after dinner.

Guilt is your brain's way of asking you to change something. It in itself is just a tool and a feeling.
Can you elaborate on what your dad is willing to do in regards to groceries? Can you get your own $60 to buy produce and protein each week? Have you told him how you feel and offered solutions to the problem?
If it was me, I'd print out recommended meal plans for diabetics, and have a heart to heart about what your goals are for eating. Ask how he can help you meet those goals. Bring up 2 or 3 solutions like getting your own spending money out of the food budget, offering to do the shopping, or offering to go with him and stick to the groceries on your meal plan.
As for dessert, think yogurts with some fruit and nuts, carb smart ice cream, a serving of chocolate, sugar free jello. The most important thing is to count your carbs so you can bolus correctly, and not to cut out everything due to guilt. That usually just leads to binges.
Focus on the plate method which is half veg, a quarter carb, and a quarter protein. Ask your doc what your carbs goals are per meal. Ask your dad from help and go into the conversation with a good nature and positivity.

Yeah, not yet. I was distracted by a rude and unnecessary comment.

OP is asking for alternatives to the high sugar and carb stuff, and listed the things they're looking to replace. That's perfectly reasonable.

Ask for a service contract of what they should be doing. If it's not common for them, ask to make one with the owner that addresses your needs. Most professional cleaning companies (small, independent, large...all of them) should give you a list of tasks they complete every time.

I agree, and recommend a registered dietician. They're recognized medical professionals and may be covered by insurance.

Why not? The staples are pretty cost effective.

I gave up one thing at a time, over a longer period. I stopped eating beef, then pork, then chicken and fish.
I still follow the balanced plate method, where half of my intake is veggies/fruits, a quarter is carb, and a quarter is protein.
Before you commit completely, try switching some meals...breakfast is usually the easiest. Then get a few dinners going that naturally don't contain meat, like bean soups, curries, pastas, veggie burgers. See which proteins you like and don't like, so that there doesn't have to be a huge experiment on the day you go meat free.
Move through about 12 vegetarian meals for practice so you know exactly what you'll eat the first two meals, so that figuring the recipes out is behind you by the time you start.

It's a righteous sounding slogan to the UN, PHLUSH, UNICEF, IFRC among others. It means access to toilets should be the norm, and is the most hygienic way to live. I agree with your cultural points, and I stand by my statement, too.
thegerl
Not the person you replied to, but I got an anti grind mouthpiece like plackers or dentek, which helped me learn to keep my mouth closed and tongue on the roof of my mouth.
thegerl
Yes, access to sanitation and using toilets is a human right.
Huel shakes and hot meals are great because they don't really have to cook as such, and they are an actual meal replacement with loads of actual nutrition, as opposed to protein shakes that miss things like fiber and vitamins.
