Basically I am thinking that a post can stay so long as it meets the following.

  1. Has a website and / or a public repo.
  2. The post must have substance.
  3. The project has more than just a kernel (unless it's a mature or advanced kernel only project)
  4. Each post about a project will be judged for AI sloppiness.
  5. If you are posting your own projects you should come back and answer any community questions. If you are just spamming it will be removed.

Open source projects are highly preferred as they can at least be viewed and those with know how can look at the code and see what's going on.

Obvious AI Slop and AI spam posts and projects will be subject to removal.

This sub is for true operating systems. It isn't for web apps that pretend to be an OS or other loosely associated crapware.

An operating system should run on real hardware. This can be a hypervisor or some sort of virtual platform while it is in development or if it has education or historical value.

Feedback?

Haha you're a funny one lol

thenerdy

He will definitely be missed.

Nextstep lives in GNUstep which I think is still sorta being maintained.

Microsoft had Xenix (their own unix)

My all time favorite OS was Novell Netware. But that's just because it's what I started my career on.

Lots of good info here in your reply :)

thenerdy

This is the way I've been leaning. I've got to decide what criteria makes it stay or go.

thenerdy

BeOS lives in spirit in HaikuOS which I personally love. I've been following it for years.

thenerdy

Well it was either that or just make a decision on my own. I'll post as soon as I get a chance.

thenerdy

Bad oof? I'm trying to decide what to do about all these recent posts. I should ask the whole communty in a post maybe

thenerdy

It's a shame that a government elected by the people won't listen to them. It doesn't matter whether you agree with this or not it seems to me that a serious discussion should be had.

thenerdy

Lol

thenerdy

While I understand why people ask these questions but there's absolutely no need for anyone to answer to these. Haiku is a volunteer open source system and is extremely niche. If you want it modernized you need to learn to code and volunteer.

thenerdy

Indeed it does!

thenerdy

I always wondered the same. When I was hanging about haikos he was still around albeit starting to slow down. Those were the days. It's amazing to see the project continuing to grow

thenerdy

This is pretty awesome

thenerdy

It's probably a bug so you might want to report it or ask kn the forums where more folks in the know hang out

thenerdy

I guess I won't be writing an os today

Mine is my Apple IIc with monitor and stand. It also came with a load of software and a bunch of Nibble Magazines. I paid $250 canadian for it but that's a steal given it's resale value.

I'm also pretty proud of my Vic 20 I got for $20. Same guy I bought that from gabe me a c64 and a c128 with two disk drives and a dataset. The 64 and 128 need work but are in decent condition.

thenerdy

Ok, I mean it kinda defeats the purpose if no one can view info about it or download it to try.

I see you posted the GitHub link in another comment.
