The auto z offset that the printer does isn’t precise enough to be used yes if that’s what you’re talking about

You sort of need to adjust it after auto z offset during the first layer to make it any good.. 

Try printing the full support in petg, the only reason people use interface layer only is because it would be a ton of purge every layer, you can just use one nozzle for the print and one nozzle for support

That way petg support will stick together and be easy to remove from the print

This will not fix the lattice issue tho, for that make sure there is 0 interface spacing and 0 z top distance, that should be as smooth as possible but if you still having lattices with the proper setting, tbh idk
