Security guards are a threat of punishment, yet objectively are effective, as are cameras.

Plenty of crimes are rational

thortgot

People who havent taken the time or effort to understand how systems work arent going to thrive in IT.

Curiosity tends to be the primary differentiator.

thortgot

Deterrence works. Cameras, security guards etc. are examples of deterrence that provable work.

Crimes committed by idiots, in the heat of passion and similar arent deterred by penalties but plenty of crime is.

Saturate the entire orbit? Yes.

Inserting a weapon into the orbit and it launches "behind" itself.

It can hit anything in the horizon from its position and potentially cause secondary effects from spall. Relative speed of the spall effects its dispersion so its unlikely to stay on orbit to cause chain reactions especially with air resistance in LEO

thortgot

It cant hang in space to destroy an entire orbit.

thortgot

They are on the same orbital alignment which is fundamentally different than straight

thortgot

In an orbital path, the curvature is significant between them.

The relative speed of the debris would change its orbit substantially

thortgot

Relative speed is what matters not objective.

You realize that they arent in a line right?

thortgot

Going in the opposite direction takes ~40% more energy because you have to overcome the spin of the Earth.

You dont need a 15k m/s collision to destroy a sat but taking out one isnt the objective. To destroy an entire constellation they'd need to put serious amounts of weaponry in space.

thortgot

Which to be clear, they dont have designed, dont have the deployment harness for and dont have the ground stations for.

Falcon 9's are equivalent to Arianne 64 and they carry 28 sattelites. You'd need dozens of launches to get coverage to be usable in a combat situation.

Its not particularly effecient to cover a handful of lattitudes.

Youd be looking at hundreds of sats for regular coverage

I actually have visibility on imaging models, they are widely in use with significantly better early detection then ever before.

If interns didnt increase productivity, companies wouldn't hire them.

thortgot

They are in use and save time in addition to being more accurate.

An intern is not responsible for their work. You clearly haven't been a manager

thortgot

Xray diagnosis models are now in widespread use. You are objectively wrong here. More accurate than humans isnt flawless.

I take it you've never been a manager. Giving a task to an intern doesnt shift the responsibility for the output to them. Its the managers job to validate, guide and verify sources.

thortgot

Xray models arent LLMs and are tested to a very high degree of accuracy by reviewing positive and negative examples of various desieases with back testing.

Lets take your research example, its vastly faster to check sourced claims then to identify the sources in the first place.

You cant read all sources it didn't review. Extend your example to Google search and you see how the logic doesnt hold.

LLMs are useful, they have limitations and the user is the one responsible for output

thortgot

There are much better ways to validate outputs then comparing every number.

thortgot

You're advocating for building tools. Lets hear about them.

Anonymize a version of one and show it to the group.

thortgot

AI documentation tends to be verbose but way higher quality than the average.

It does take some skill to understand what layers of context act as "guardrails", which are directions and which are suggestions. Constraining your output isnt super difficult though

thortgot

Delegating password resets is the correct solution

thortgot

LEO sats can't cover one section of the Earth. They have tk move.

10 years is wildly too long.

thortgot

It doesnt struggle with pdfd at all. The search index is better than the average dms.

Go ask for a Sharepoint consultant.

thortgot

The average Canadian is vastly better off the most of the world.

thortgot

If your users are primarily office users you can replace your file server with SharePoint.

Just dont dump everything into one site, understand how permissions work and migrate it in chunks

thortgot

Alternatively, ask for repo access to one and clone it.

Use the tools at hand to dissect what it does, why it does it, how the architecture works etc.

Its not remotely as complicated as it was a year ago.

Adapt

The photos are scrapped from the internet entirely. If you use any public facing digital service, have your photo in school yearbooks, are in thr background of Facebook pictures etc. Its already happened
