Shapo blinded an umpire, and the rule didn't change. They're waiting for a literal death I guess.

Improving her serve, yes, of course should be the priority. But not sure what she means about approaching the net more often . . . her issue against any player who doesn't just blow her off the court is hitting 3 good shots and then missing the 4th, or at her worst, hitting 0 good shots and missing the 1st. She's not in position to run to the net before unforced error X . . . she needs to not hit the unforced error! If anything she needs to dial things back against most players.

I mean, with medicaid expansion in place, North Carolinians generally have affordable healthcare. If we cut road maintenance and construction by like 50%, wouldn't really move the needle there. And obviously we can't do that!

Pretty decent number of upcoming performances of the symphony per my concert map

I knew the name Matt Browne sounded familiar--saw his "I have seen the future" at the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle last year, an even smaller org but with similarly high artistic ambitions. And I felt exactly the same way, that I enjoyed my first listen of that piece more than I usually do, think I even posted about it here.

ah yes really insightful comment I posted here about him haha.

Thanks for the writeup!

you watch the main tour? how quaint

why is this in criclejerk, wrong sub!

says "unable to accept invite" lol . . . will try again later

oh strange, that's unfortunate. will join; would also like to link your data to my classicalconcertmap so that folks can "prepare" for concerts.

100%, I will report back. RE liner notes, I wouldn't reproduce them, just link them when they're on open or even closed web.

I vibecoded https://librettofinder.com/ for centralizing online librettos, though the real final frontier would be to find links to liner notes that have them, haven't tried that yet.

A constituent has now filed an ethics complaint, but yeah very unlikely this Taylor's re-election.

1. Elected officials are required to disclose this information. He did not.

2. The gambling den isn't legal.

they will just wait for fable 5.5 to blow them out of the water? seems strange

The sign in front of the nondescript gray building doesn’t name the establishment inside. Instead, it says, “WARNING: THERE IS NOTHING HERE WORTH DYING FOR.” An image of a gun points toward the approaching customer. Twenty-one rules are posted on the front door. Near the top: No phones or photos inside.

The room reeks of cigarette and cannabis smoke as an employee describes some of the 22 video lottery machines on site. They appear to be luck-based slot games—Piggy’s Big Break, Top Shot Golf, College Rivals—that don’t require skill to win. In North Carolina, such games are against the law.

The handful of well-paid admins are the ones with the job of raising hundreds of millions of dollars. That's a job well worth paying a high salary, not in that the practitioners cosmically deserve it but that if you slashed their salaries and the result was even a 1% decrease in fundraising effectiveness, you've lost money overall!

Some good answers here but you can also check out the classical concert map, which tabulates composers over a few hundred thousand concerts. Perhaps I will add a "living" filter.

It always comes with strings attached and can only be accepted if the whims & wishes of those elite donors are fulfilled

the whims and wishes like . . . live classical music! that's the thing they want, and they want it to be accessible to the whole community, so that's why they donate.

Completely false. They have to raise hundreds of millions every single year forever. There's no magic "make every billionaire give all of their philanthropy to me" button! The rich people DO CARE! They care very much about paying artists--that is why there is a Met.

Can you expand on your logic? The cost of paying those artists and stagehands is why they are asking you to donate money. They raise hundreds of millions of dollars every single year, and that money goes to stagehands and artists and paying other costs--that's the institution!

Right, rare only against his first concerto. At least 11 upcoming performances this season.

Happy to have captured this on the classical concert map

I'm confused how this is a response to the OP?

I also have zero problem with modern staging.

This is what OP said. The complaint was specifically not about modern vs. traditional. Kind of frustrated on OP's behalf that you've hijacked this into the usual Europe vs. USA reddit thing, boring!
