Yeah, but if the dangerous people don't want to harm you? Some big, buff 6'5 guy might theoretically be able to crush you like a soda can, but if you start looking shifty eyed at him when he hasn't done anything to you, then that's bigoted. Fear might lead to bigotry, but that doesn't mean bigotry is right.

Of course, if we're talking some Always Chaotic Evil race then all bets are off. But if they're basically a different sort of people with social instincts able to coexist, then you don't get to go after them for what they might do and still be morally right. Don't get me wrong, it would happen and is interesting worldbuilding, but it's not, IMO, right.

Ooh, I did something similar with love and hearts! I thought the eyes would turn to hearts when you looked at someone you liked. So the first time I "liked someone" (really it was just that I found them pretty) I figured my eyes would turn into hearts when I looked at them and began preparing for having to defend myself when the other kids inevitably realized what was happening.

I somehow did realize that the whole "whole eye turns into heart and springs out of eye socket" was just cartoon exaggeration, but I figured that at least the whole non-white part of the eyes would turn into pink hearts.
