Nah, I'm not seeing anything deterministic either. A few things that could be easy to mistake for logic if going fast on this board, though

trunks111

I got through it the first time earlier this year and described it as the only game that's put me in fight or flight the entire time. Once you push that cart in it's gogogo. In a good way

I really enjoyed how puzzle oriented it was. There were a lot of moments where I felt like I could imagine the devs going "hey, what if..." and just throwing it at players for them to just figure out. The rails section and the explosives house come to mind

I remember getting to the cliffs outside and seeing the sky and it made me wonder what people thought of that view when the game came out

a5n is intended to have a tank swap but in reality it's either "just invuln/sink" or "just get bailed out by the healers", or failing that the tank just explodes lmao

trunks111

It really just depends on the fight and the specific type of coordination that's needed. Most stuff is planned out, that stuff is realistically as easy or difficult as the healers make it on themselves.

The main thing I would say is consistently difficult is certain triage scenarios, sometimes there's a way out of things and I don't have time to communicate what needs to happen, sometimes I do have time. Partially depends if I have my cosupports in voice or not too because I can say things in voice faster than I can type in chat. Like for example I know as both the shield and pure healer how to heal UCOB's transition into p3 without tank lb (not without lb3, I mean literally without an LB bar at if I have to healer lb3 Nael), In voice I can just say what to do in between calling out mechanics but I just can't type everything fast enough through text to get across the cooldowns that need to be saved and how to time them. Big different between savage and ultimate though, Savage it's really only certain sections of certain fights that can get out of hand if my cohealer isn't contributing, but ultimate I'm a lot more likely to feel it

This goes for really any game I play and not just strictly gear, but they fall into I'd say three main categories-

  1. enables me to do something I wasnt able to do before

  2. enables me to do something I like doing more efficiently

  3. I literally have nothing else to spend currency on and it's numerically an upgrade, even if marginal

trunks111

Im okay with it in POE because you dont actually see the damage numbers. I also homebrew my builds and tend towards slower and bulkier playstyles, but eeeeevery now and then I want a glass cannon screen nuke. I made a sanctum runner this league named big_BIG_badda_boom and its exactly what the name says it is

trunks111

It doesnt strictly have a shield but the marauder in doom eternal is pretty defensive. If you try to just use one weapon it won't be very effective because it'll block some of your shots and youll likely have to reload by the time you have a proper attack window, so the trick is to cycle weapons quickly so you can actually punish the stagger effectively

27, also trying to pick up where I left off, mostly trying to poke at certain parts of calc that interest me

I'd start by trying to establish a baseline for what you already know/remember and then filling in the gaps from there. I've been enjoying the calc for dummies book because it has review sections/a refresher on prerequisites,  it has practice problems you can use, and I find it does a good job explaining things at the level someone learning for the first time would need to hear things in to make it easy to understand. I've been going ro my library to study because it's a good environment for it

I decided to retake English to start over with a less strict teacher

I know in my heart I deserve to get into this program, and that I am pretty good at English, good enough to get an acceptable grade.

Ik this is long

The first two quotes are a bit contradictory. Not to say you're bad at English, but your professors in college are not going to be any easier on the red penning if you're having issues with it now, especially if it's that competitive.

I'm kinda curious, what were you losing marks for that makes you view your first teacher as strict? You don't get grades, you earn them, and it just sounds like whatever happened, you didn't earn the grade you wanted. I would argue whether you use AI or not, trying to do things with a teacher you view as "less strict" is just as much an easy way out as using AI is. Improving your grade is a thing that's in your control and you need those bad grades as feedback to actually learn what you need to improve. And then you need to actually put the work in to act on that feedback. It's not easy and it takes effort and it's just going to be expected of you at uni, especially a competitive one as you describe.

I quoted the third line because I feel it's telling in a post about English grades that you view a post that barely scratches four hundred words as long. Ultimately that's subjective, I guess, but I regularly see posts and comments longer than this.

That being said, I do commend you for having the resolve to not have given in to using AI, yet.

sometimes when I read read, I read read as read instead of read, but in some cases I'll read read as read instead of read

Colorless green ideas sleep furiously

trunks111

Moons 2.0? I wouldnt complain

trunks111

What is the probability of a beginner game of minesweeper having a Zini=3BV board generation

trunks111

you reap what you sow

trunks111

Granted.

This ends up happening when people are in non-determistic board states and were at the mercy of rng anyways

trunks111

might as well double down and test it with ai then too

When I was at a pizza chain usually I did everything but make the pizzas, but every now and then we'd get "surprise me" and the people doing the pizzas would let me top them.

You either got my crackhead pizza order which is no cheese extra sauce extra onion and a fuck ton of garlic, or I would do "oops all olive" and cram every type of olive on top. Sometimes I would hide a single anchovy under the cheese. Just one, as a little treat

trunks111

I had to send stuff out like this one time because I was new and the guy who normally ordered boxes quit and then when I ordered more the boxes came like half a month late :c

trunks111

I have to wonder if this is a pf vs static issue. I remember with AA back in ex 3 when the fight was new I started as a healer pair with one of my friends and we had cooldowns to spare for the cheese in that fight, I was able to stagger off my carress onto the exit raidwide instead, but if I tried doing that in pf we'd just explode. This tier I'm on SCH fully in a static and it was trivial to mitigate the cheese but I have to imagine it's another case of pf being pf

8 tiles are always a jumpscare to me

you have a budget for shopping, say, $50, and your state sales tax is 6%. What's the highest pre-tax price you can spend so that you can still afford your bill post-tax?

1.06x=$50, x=47.17

I use that one pretty regularly, same with if I go to a restaurant and want to figure it out tip

Knowing how to label x and y axis with which variable when making a graph is also important. I sometimes make graphs and do linear extrapolations/interpolations. I guess that's more stats than algebra but iirc algebra does have a heavy focus on linear relationships

trunks111

is minesweeper on the menu :o?

trunks111

he can pretend to be 27 again

trunks111

tbf if theres a game where someone would do some sort of crackhead character lock like magic only, it would definitely be runescape

trunks111

I can't see how this would be an issue I'd run into to begin with but I guess I graduated before AI was a thing. I typically had a strong pulse on my thesis because it'd either come naturally from class discussion and from notes I took while reading. I think the one time I did need more evidence I found an online pdf of the book and then CTRL + F'ed words I felt were relevant until I found the major passages I was missing. The only other time I had this issue was because I was just overwhelmed by all my classes having overlapping deadlines one time so I just submitted a shakey essay knowing it was inadequate and took a C. My uni had a writing center anyways so even if I was taking the courses now with AI as an option I would still just choose to discuss the weaknesses with them rather than resort to AI

trunks111

the feisty bit with m10 is that it can vary a lot in what assignments you get each pull, and you have the overhead that comes with double boss. On the tank side of things there's a lot of knowing when/how to pull them together, for healers the main hurdle is contending with distance healing during sections. It'll come with repetition though, snaking1 I think in particular the thing is you can choose which LP is batched together but you don't get to choose which one you practice which was the hard part for my static, we got the same water/fire split like half a dozen pulls in a row so the first couple times we got it flipped we exploded until we learned the other half of the mechanic we didn't get to practice. You can basically treat it like two mechanics/phases you need to learn.

There's also some optimization around cleave and when to DOT or let DOTs drop, and around not getting actions cancelled by surfboards, but you'll figure that out as you do it
