bang on, and it's so shortsighted. Canada has grown in population by 35%, about 11 million, in the last 30 years, and the vast majority of that growth has been in immigration from countries that have no cultural associate with hockey. That's huge growth potential, but the NHL just ignored it completely and for the most part hockey in Canada hasn't grown demographically since the 80s or 90s.

I did the Toronto star vote compass a few days before Chris Alexander dropped out. To my surprise, his campaign and positions were very similar to Chow’s, and noticeably different from Branford’s. Just something to think about

Increase the frequency of transit vehicles to 12, and actually give transit vehicles a dedicated lane on busy corridors (which there are probably more than people realise, I was on the lansdowne bus yesterday and it was one bus every 2.5 minutes and they were still 100% full, and they can’t maintain their schedule because they get stuck in traffic.

yes, of course, good clarification.

I’m a transportation modeller. Not building those is probably the second best thing that Toronto has done, after building all the subway lines.
Is you are curious as to why, think about the different impact that a highway has on a city versus a subway line, especially when the land use along the subway is allowed to redevelop. A good comparison to this is Yonge street from Sheppard-Yonge to Finch compared to the 427. Both have higher density supported by the transportation infrastructure, but the 427 corridor is completely unnavigable unless you have a car, it is literally dangerous to live near because of the high pollution, there are more parking lots meaning less space for stuff that people actually want like parks and restaurants and patios. On the other hand, the Yonge street / line 1 corridor has tons of shopping and pretty much any amenities you could ever need without travelling more than about 2-3 km, there’s lots of interesting and creative businesses and restaurants. People actually go there to socialize and window shop and just be, because it’s a more pleasant space.
Oh, and line 1 is roughly the equivalent of 18 lanes of highway, which means that the line 1 corridor is more effective transportation while taking up less spacing and disrupting the surrounding areas less.

I’m not sure it is. Literally the point of professional engineering as a regulated profession is that it prevents injuries and death caused by bad infrastructure. If a building collapses and the engineers work is found to be faulty, they would face legal repercussions and also potential loss of license. I’m not sure it should be any different for a civil/transportation engineer who approves a redesign that is less safe.

Or make the left and right borders of the background bit one pixel wider maybe? Right now the negative space little numbers are surrounded by one pixel, and if they were surrounded by 2 pixels they might be easier to read.

You are actually typically safer taking the lane than not. Rear end collisions are very rare, bicyclists typically get hurt from right hooks (ie sharing the lane) and from turning drivers at intersections.
twoerd
Yep. I suspect it would only take about 10 cyclists working together to hugely negatively impact vehicle traffic on a segment of street (legally). Just take the lane, travel at 15 km/hr, and space out. For a 1.5 km segment (such as Bloor between islington and prince edward), it would take about 12-5 minutes to do a loop as a single cyclist. Then the 10 cyclists would spread out evenly so that there’s about 1 per 75-90 seconds, which would mean that cars would be constantly needing to slow down and wait or pass etc.
This should be the approach. Yes, the big critical masses are showy, but if we organized to try to have 10 people for each of the 5ish rush hours in a day, it would be far more impactful.

what country is the wave?

And that was O6 so only two series.

speak for yourself. I had to watch 9 years of marner playing like ass in the postseason, only for him to immediately turn into exactly the kind of player we all knew was possible but he never actually achieved for the leafs? for vegas of all teams?

I understand why it does this, but I'm not sure how I feel about the direction arrow pointing north across the north pole.
twoerd
It’s an art installation. I forget why, there’s a plaque up on the fence explaining it

A protest at queens park is nice, but a 5 pm rush hour critical mass along Eglinton near the Allen that just happens to require a lane or two to fit all the bikes would send a much stronger message in my opinion.

Canada's clinched first, because there is a 4 point gap between us and Czechia. Even if we lose, we'll still have 1 point over them.
Edit: The IIHF put this as the headline: "Canada clinches first with win" talking about the Slovakia game. However, the Czechs have two games left, so they can actually pass us. The IIHF must mean that Canada is the first team to clinch the quarters? IDK

You can tell it’s American from the parking lots. Gross

What about War of the Ring (card game version) compared to the original?

you are definitely in the wrong. It is possible for both people to be in the wrong because there is a time during which nobody should be going.

Assuming the crosswalk sign didn't change to walk just before the road light went green
This can happen, but there would still the same amount of time between the light going red for the cyclist and then the crossing being shown the pedestrian symbol, whether the pedestrian symbol shows before the green or not.
the city is in the midst of a switchover to having Leading Pedestrian Intervals (where the walk signal shows about 5 seconds before the cars get the green), but they still have the same all-red time (i.e. the time that every signal in every direction tells everyone not to go, so that the transition can occur safely.
Source: I work in transportation and see city of toronto signal programming every day.

for what it's worth, I didn't particularly like pandemic (found it too plain mostly, and I rarely like playing "against" a deck or whatever ai a coop game comes up with). But I love fate of the fellowship. Granted I'm a LOTR fan, but also the way the evil deck gives a bit of a personality to each game, combined with the different objectives and characters pulling you in different ways, is really special.

We literally had BMO expanded in roughly 2017 for the outdoor hockey game (and I think grey cup, and also TFC playoffs?). Same style of stilts.

I don't think LA went 16-2, I think they went 12-2 going into the finals but then that wasn't a sweep.

Unironically I wonder why penalty killers don’t use shot blocking sticks. I swear I’ve seen so many power plays become effective 5 on 3s because of sticks broken from shot blocking. I think it would be possible to make a stick that was still half decent for play that would also be strong enough to basically never break from a shot block.
on parts of bloor street and richmond street (and probably adelaide), bikes outnumber cars. I work in transportation, I've seen the numbers.
