It’d probably be the least grim thing on the plate.

Massive amount of bonemeal used as a bulking agent for dog food.

When I ran a pub quiz, one of the rounds was chosen by the losing team of the previous week. They were encouraged to pick something that they would be good at, basically to give them a bit of an advantage and to entice them to come back.

If we’re allowed suprasegmentals, tone. Get in the bin. Mā mǎ má mà arse.

This feels like 90% of fantasy written in the past decade? Good examples off the top of my head: the Rook and Rose trilogy by M A Carrick, Memoirs of Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan, the Dark Lord Davi duology by Django Wexler, anything by Shannon Chakraborty. I mean seriously, go to a bookshop and open any fantasy novel written since 2016. Even non-romantasy novels seem to favour plucky female protagonists these days.

Because texting back is responding to an invitation to begin a conversation. I don't want a conversation.
ETA: And I am just not going to play voice notes at all. If you're too idle to type it out, I can't be bothered to listen to it. "Really personal" my arse, it's like getting a voicemail without the pleasure of having declined somebody's call.

The Alvin Maker series is essentially "Joseph Smith founding Mormonism in an alternate universe where magic works". It's also racist as fuck.
However, Orson Scott Card is just an unapologetically trash human being.

At this stage? Oh honey, we sped past money grabbing at least ten merch drops ago.

That is brilliant. More schools should use their pupils as unpaid labourers.

Mid 90s, same happened regularly. Tbf to him, it was literally in and out and he didn't linger or stare, so I assume it wasn't a pervy thing, just a cleanliness thing.

No 2 appears to render No 1 superfluous.

Why do you squeegee your shower?

REDDITORS HATE THIS ONE SIMPLE TRICK: be someone who earns six figures in an unspecified role in tech, and feed your entire family of nine just on the leftovers from a £2.50 chicken from Lidl.

This.

My favourite interaction in the entire series.

Have you considered bellowing “I think you’ll find that’s legal tender” in England, because that always works.
Seriously, it’ll likely be treated in the same way as a Citizencard in the rest of the UK. You may need to explain the equivalence, however.

Depends on your GP’s receptionist. The ones at the surgery I’m registered with now are remarkably sensitive and caring. At the last surgery I was registered the receptionist thought it was acceptable to bellow across the counter “WHICH PART OF YOUR PENIS IS IT, MR TXAKORI? THE DOCTOR WILL NEED TO KNOW IF IT IS YOUR SHAFT OR YOUR FORESKIN.”
As an anecdote to share at the pub: hilarious. As someone who was seeking medical intervention for what turned out to be a serious issue? Utterly unacceptable and totally mortifying. Two years it took for my complaint about the receptionist to be taken seriously, and that is why I am now registered with a different surgery: I understand that the receptionist in question has since been let go.
(My penis is now entirely fine, thank you for asking.)

You know, you never get this kind of question asked the other way round. Nobody’s in here asking “Is this super common UK thing just a southern thing, or does it happen anywehere else? By the way, have I mentioned how southern I am? Aren’t those non-southerners weird?”
Of course we put salt and vinegar on fish and chips in the rest of the country, you plonker.

We don’t have “food trucks” outside the pretentious cities. What the rest of the country has is vans. Burger vans, ice cream vans, and fuck off you Californian cunt vans. You call always tell the difference because the second will play jangly music as it drives around.
