What is the obsession with the front page so much? I don't get it. You're acting as if the front page matters so much. It doesn't. Upvotes don't mean anything. Text discussions get viewed as much as image posts do, so it's not like people aren't seeing them. I don't get why people think that them not getting enough upvotes "hurts the discussion" ????? Not to mention that if people are complaining that images get more upvotes than text posts, well, this is a worldwide social media "problem." This isn't a "problem" that is limited to SAO subreddit. Also, the reason why you have more text discussions in the front page is common sense. Limiting image posts of course will make text discussions pop up more because it's the only content that there is.

What evidence do you have that a sub solely on image posts is as good as dead? Like seriously, how do you know this as a fact? I'm not even being sarcastic here. I'm genuinely interested into how you think this. This isn't a fact, it's an opinion. Also, the sub's best interests in mind? This is also an opinion. I've already stated, a subreddit is made by it's community, not by it's moderators. I'm sorry, but what the moderators think is best for the sub is an OPINION at the end of the day. And with the amount of backlash? I'd gander to say that the opinion that the community has as a whole on the opinion of the moderators is that the rule isn't going to help anything at all

uDustin

Is the subreddit really declining though? I mean, the new season just came out. Also not to mention the fact, the subreddit was peaceful and calm as hell before they decided to implement this.

uDustin

Oh, I'm glad that the moderators are open to ideas.

Let's see, how about the idea of checking with your community first on how they'll feel about a rule like this before the mods implement it? That's just a guess though.

Not to mention, you say you're open to ideas from the community when you clearly said to community members of this subreddit to "make a subreddit of your own if you don't like how we do things."

You're limiting images because you are HOPING it will bring more lively discussions on this subreddit. That's a pretty big leap of hope right there.

And yeah, I one hundred percent agree that the clutter of images is going to lead to the downfall of this subreddit. Images are the bane of all things that are holy, they destroy subreddits a lot. I mean, before this rule got implemented, people were rioting and making text posts on how bad images are for the subreddit right? People were definitely NOT going through their normal daily routine of posting images on the subreddit to share with everyone and discussing with them and all in all having a fun and great time right? Oh I'm sure that the clutter of images are going to lead to the downfall of this subreddit.

uDustin

I guess the amount of community backlash that you and the other moderators have gotten is also a hyperbole right?

Because what do the people who make up this subreddit know right? We don't know anything so we shouldn't get a say on something as controversial as this.

It's alright though. No harm or foul done. The only harm done here is the reputation of this subreddit. If this is how you're going to treat your contributors, then the future for this sub is about to cross an event horizon and end up ultimately in a black hole. Remember at the end of the day, a subreddit is made up by its community, not by its moderators.

uDustin

Hey there.

Guys, let's keep it civil as best as possible, please. You have the right to express your opinion, but let me be clear when I say that there's a massive difference between expressing opinions and insulting someone. This goes for Both Sides. Try to keep the peace, there's a difference between debating and name-calling and arguing like children. Thanks.

uDustin

I'm sorry, but who the hell are you to say whether this is what's best for "a large group of people?" If we were talking solely based on how people have reacted to this rule, "the large group of people" you speak off, hate this rule and want it to be changed as you can see from the amount of backlash on the stickied thread.

uDustin

You know let me get this straight like right off the bat.

First of all, the excuse of "BUT IMAGES GET MORE UPVOTES THAN TEXT POSTS SO NO ONE CAN SEE THEM" is, to be blunt, fucking dumb and stupid. This happens on EVERY and when I mean every, I MEAN EVERY subreddit that has anime dedicated to it. Don't believe me? Go and look, I guarantee you it happens. Do images get more upvotes than text posts discussion? Yes. But you people need to understand something, upvotes don't mean anything. The VIEW count is what matters. Text posts get pretty much the same amount of views as pictures do, so it's not like people aren't finding them because they aren't on the Top page. That's a load of crap and you know it.

Second of all, the amount of "text discussion" will probably be centered around the new anime, and guess what? Oh, right. There are two stickied threads every week on them for people to go in and discuss. Stickied threads are all the way on top of the top page, so don't use this excuse that they are being cluttered by images.

Images, I get it. Trust me, I do. I have seen over a few months old pictures being reuploaded over and over again and it does get redundant and stale. But guess what else gets stale?

TEXT DISCUSSIONS. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen people post a text post that is a question about the LN or anime that are very simply answered if they read/watch. I cannot also tell you that these kinds of one-time text posts don't bring any "lively discussions" on this subreddit. In fact, it turns the subreddit into a Q&A instead.

Long story short, I like the idea of getting more discussion on this subreddit. But this is absolutely the worst way of doing things because you are limiting contributors who have dedicated a lot of time and effort on this subreddit. A big fuck you to them isn't a great way of doing things.

uDustin

Well my friend, I'm not sure why you clicked on this thread, SK Kirito is a pretty massive spoiler so keep that in mind. If you still want to know well I'll put tags in for you.

LN (Vol 20) Spoiler

uDustin

This is the reason why it's kind of a massive stretch.

SK Kirito holds the same strong unbreakable love for Asuna as his original counterpart, so him ending up with AS30 is like meeeeeeeeeeh very slim.

One can hope tho

uDustin

Honestly, just my opinion, I really do think the series could keep on going, as there are some interesting things that Reki could implement without it being subpar. A-1 pretty much has stated as long as Reki keeps writing, they'll keep on animating.

As for Progressive, that is the number one thing that has always pissed me off about SAO. I love the franchise, and I know Reki has already stated the reason why, but Aincrad, the original SAO being rushed was the dumbest shit ever. I know Progressive is his way of remedying that, but I feel uneasy reading Progressive and treating it as actual canon. Just my complete honest opinion, if Reki made the Aincrad arc same on par or longer than Alicization, it would have no doubt have had the potential of being one of the best to ever been written.

uDustin

Even Sachi? :(

I wish mayne.

uDustin

Just my .2 cents on this, I really do think this isn't going to bode well, and you can already see by the amount of backlash that this post is getting.

I commend you for trying, but I honestly don't think this is the way to go in terms of having more discussion in this subreddit, because people are going to get pissed and I'm betting that it'll make people unsubscribe completely from this subreddit.

With that being said, I get that seeing images on the top front page of SAO is boring to some people, but then again every week there are two stickied threads about the Alicization anime for them to go in, discuss, and see other people's opinions.

If you also want to make a discussion concerning other things about SAO, then simply just make a post about it? I don't get why this is so hard to do?

I do agree with the statement of overly used posted pictures, that is something that has bothered me and I'd like to see that cut down on. All in all though, I really don't think this is the way to go about things. If you want to discuss something, then make a post about it. I don't get why that's so hard to do, and I don't get why punishing people who post images is the way to "make more discussions appear on this subreddit." I can guarantee you for a fact this will have the opposite effect and will make people angrier.

uDustin

DON'T KILL ME THE TITLE IS PURELY A JOKE

In all seriousness though, Asuna looks heavenly terrifying in this picture.

Kirito would absolutely murder you if you so much tried to touch his waifu, seeing Asuna do the same thing is so cuteeeee but terrifying too. I love this :D

uDustin

Zehaffen please sticky this thread as well, or any other mods. Thanks!

uDustin

I'm a classical and OG person, so Asuna's Aincrad outfit is #1 in my books.

This outfit though is making me start to rethink that :)

uDustin

Two words describe Vol 14 perfectly:

Stay cool.

uDustin

Already has happened :D

uDustin

That's subjective because we both have different tastes, but yes it stays good dw.

Some of the next episodes if they adopt the LN properly may seem slow and will shy away from the main female lead which is Mai, similar to how Asuna takes a step back in some arcs, but she will still be a powerful force in the story.

The later bits of the LN's of Rascal are great don't get me wrong, but in terms of comparing it to the later bits of the Alicization LN? I know I'm an SAO fan, but if I was honestly looking at it in a very neutral standpoint, SAO wins by a landslide in terms of later developments in the story.

uDustin

I agree it is a very underrated anime at the moment, but I'm still glad it makes the Top 10 list.

I'm guessing the reason as to why it's so underrated is because, like Iroduku and Zombieland Saga, Gridman has no prior exposure to it. What I mean by this is that, the other anime's on the list started off as either a Light Novel or a manga, while the three mentioned are anime originals with Zombieland getting it's own manga adaptation 2 days after the anime release if I remember correctly.

Then again though if that's my reasoning as to why it's underrated, then Zombieland Saga and Iroduku should be lower ranked as well so I don't know. But Gridman is definitely an underrated gem in terms of anime and people should definitely check it out.

uDustin

Setting my SAO fan bias aside, I can tell you for a fact that Rascal Does not Dream of a bunny girl senpai is very good.

Mostly all anime nowadays have the standard "DENSE AS FUCK MAIN PROTAGONIST WITH 9000 GIRLS COMIN OUTTA HIS ASS WANTING HIS DICK." but Rascal is a breath of fresh air because the main protagonist is VERY likable and breaks most of the stereotypes that are labeled with male main anime protagonists nowadays.

The dude has balls, can actually flirt, bold, and isn't dense. Not to mention the female lead is also very likable. It's a goldmine when it comes to the Romance genre of anime, and not to mention the plot is pretty interesting as well.

Do I honestly think that it should be up above SAO 3? At this point in time, yes. The reason? Rascal is pretty fast-paced and has fired on all cylinders already with its first four episodes and have already shown great heartwarming scenes between its two protagonists while SAO is taking its time.

In the future when SAO REALLY starts to pick up the pace, then it definitely should dethrone Rascal as I have read the Light Novels for Rascal and Alicization, and I can tell you from a non-biased SAO fan point of view, Alicization wins by a landslide when it comes to later portions of the story.
