Is this similar to the Highlander's second row seat back issue?

vladthor

No, sadly. I mostly stopped trying after a while because it just wasn't really worth my time, and I just don't drink enough to justify it. Of course, if there were something out there, I'd definitely give it a try, but I never found anything.

This is useful. I'll need to check it out. Otherwise I might pay for Narwhal like the other poster. Used AB foreverrrr and don't like the default reddit appearance. Bare bones look is so much smoother.

Same here. Nothing works anymore. Hoping maybe someday some functionality will return, but I don't expect it this time.

vladthor

A bit, but I loved it though. Got the collector's dvd set way back in the day. One of my favorite things on toonami in the late '90s for sure.

Once they mentioned the church in the article, I realized where it was. That was the old First Church of Christ, Scientist just north of the Ford Bridge.

ding ding ding we have a winner

A big part of that was semi-self-inflicted. They did some renovation work a little while back and were closed a lot. That was in between the pandemic and road construction. Ultimately, they've had a lot of time when their sales haven't been able to be strong for one reason or another, and I suspect that's what did them in more than anything else.

vladthor

Very sad to see Swede Hollow go. They were great and I loved their drinks. Pandemic followed by construction certainly did a number on them, wouldn't surprise me if it were the primary reason they shut down.

I think we have seen flashes. Last game there was a great sequence where it went Juhász->Howard and then the next possession went Howard->Juhász. I feel like that is the kind of play that most fans envisioned - high usage in the paint, physical, lots of good passing, clear shot selection, making it hard for defenses to stop the Lynx.

Unfortunately, most games, she has looked just a little out-of-sorts and gets beat in some important ways. A few games, she has looked solid, and occasionally shows a great play here or there. I think the expectation was much more physical play than anyone is seeing out of her, and that may just be injury-related.

I made another comment on the main sub but I will repeat part of it here: I thought she really earned her spot after how well she did in the '24 playoffs when I thought she outplayed Myisha Hines-Allen, who felt kind of redundant and less impactful in the finals. I want that Dorka Juhász back: a solid defender who has a nose for the ball and knows when to take a good shot.

Right now feels like she's not even as impactful as rookie Dorka was back in '23. If she can show enough in the last 10 games, I think we try to bring her back for the right price, because she is a restricted free agent and bigs are always in demand. But if she falters and doesn't turn it on in the playoffs, I think they let her walk and draft a big to replace her, keeping in mind that we will be having expansion drafts in '28, '29, and '30.

I think there is a measure of outspokenness involved as well as connection with multiple organizations. If someone is active on social media, their organization was more apt to end up as part of that "chart" (if we can even call it that).

To quote the filing that produced that image,

...if any individual was connected to both DAMN and any of these entities, the government considers the entities to be conspiring.

I take this absolutely flimsy, idiotic statement to mean that those organizations were included there because of the people that the operation ended up surveilling. AFSCME probably isn't there because they didn't happen to end up watching anyone who was in both groups.

Bingo. This is about whether, to quote the NLRB's website,

The employee reasonably believes that the investigation may result in discharge, discipline, demotion, or other adverse consequence to their job status or working conditions.

Emphasis there on "employee reasonably believes" - not "management reasonably believes." Sounds like a situation where OP reasonably believed that to be true, management disagreed (which, as we now know, was a lie), and the meeting should have ended right then and there when OP asked for the steward. It also seems like that was an attempt to invoke the Weingarten rights, which makes it all that much worse.

If OP's union is worth its salt, that grievance is going to be an easy win. It's about as cut-and-dry as a Weingarten violation gets. Hopefully, the employer will also get raked over the coals for doing something so stupid. Unfortunately, that second part doesn't always happen.

And this is pretty interesting to me because I thought she (Juhász) was more effective than MHA back in the '24 playoffs. We traded for MHA and it didn't feel like it was that impactful.

Now, two years later, and it feels like Dorka has taken a step back in her play. Maybe it's the injuries, but she has only shown flashes of the things she was improving in 2024. I really like her and wish she could do better, too.

I kept yelling at my TV because we just continuously threw possessions away with either stupid offensive fouls or turnovers. We didn't score in the last 4:53. The possessions went:

  • Howard bad pass turnover
  • Miles blocked layup
  • Collier bad pass turnover
  • Miles missed layup
  • Williams missed 3pt shot
  • Collier blocked jump shot
  • Collier loose ball foul
  • McBride missed layup
  • McBride missed 3pt shot
  • Miles missed 3pt shot

That's TEN possessions with absolutely nothing to show for it. The stupid turnovers and offensive fouls are the worst. At least with the missed shots, they were trying, but Brink basically shut us down and won them the game in those ten possessions.

Yeah I feel like maybe there are some ways that it's a Miranda-class but the darkness of the overall image makes the nacelles look like they are attached at the sides rather than to the bottom.

vladthor

Okay, if they don't have a land card of Mount Seleya, then not featuring it as one of the Mountain arts is going to really be a missed opportunity.

vladthor

Okay, yes, cool art, but like... we never saw any canonical spider-Borg designs, unless I am totally misremembering. There are plenty of other Borg that have a history of dismembering freshly-assimilated drones. And wouldn't the, y'know, giant spider legs get in the way of getting close up and doing the sorts of surgical (body horror) work that the Borg are infamous for? I am not sure why we are introducing some real non-canonical shit here. Then again, it's Star Trek in Magic land, it just has to be halfway thematic and not necessarily canonical anyway, I suppose.

vladthor

I feel like this dude just has too many cables, particularly on his head. It looks like he is just wrapped in cables.

vladthor

Yeah I would have greatly preferred this to be Hugh's rebel group rather than... whatever non-character this is.

vladthor

WTF art is that? The Reliant never ejected its warp core. I swear that's what the ship says, even though the way the nacelles are positioned - probably because it is too dark - it doesn't quite look like a Miranda-class either.

Also a flavor fail mechanically. I feel like it should reduce damage caused to a creature down to 1 or something like that, at the cost of... idk, being unable to attack or block for a turn or something.

vladthor

I feel like the art here really doesn't quite capture the cuddly adorableness of this thing before it bares its teeth...

vladthor

Okay, I question the art choice here. The phrase has two contexts as it was used in First Contact because Data does say it when he breaks the warp core, but it's in a positive sense because the Borg couldn't actually fully resist the efforts of the Enterprise crew to retake the ship. Here, it's more in the negative sense, and I feel like the more general hive mind/initial borg encounter from Best of Both Worlds would have been more appropriate. That was back when it still invoked a sense of fear in the audience.

File this one under "flavor text that I can hear"

vladthor

Absolutely love John's art. Had him sign some mountains for be a few years ago.

Hello, good question. I posed the question but we had a split vote about how to move forward on it, and we never got back to it when we added some additional moderators. I would not count on anything coming through at the moment.
