As a Protos his pay must already be bonkers, and as a Captain he highly likely handles a lot of cash for the ship too, so you're right that his check probably dwarfs that of most of the cast.

I remember Yakuza doing this a lot, mainly in the 'boss takes out cigarette, subordinate lights it up', honestly a genius way to show the respect or subordination between characters.

WELL, here's the small analysis

First the drip is impeccable (I love a man in uniform what can i say), second, he's a soldier so he's probably well built, third, those hands look very holdable and lastly, since we can't see his face, we can imagine him as pretty as we want :) The kindness and competency helps too of course. The fact he lacks any real offensive powers must be absolutely setting on fire the protective instincts of strong women lol. A handsome kind competent man with ressources, a great job, while being just weak enough that you can protect him? I call that a major catch.

Rika in Mystic Messenger. Everyone praises her as the founder of their charity organisation and as V's deceased girlfriend, their common friend, and her cousin Sooyung basically worships her... Then you meet her in the secret route, and she's clearly spiraling in a violent manic depression, she manipulates everyone around her, is basically grooming them into joining her would be cult, has brained her boyfriend V causing him to slowly go blind... and she's not even dead. She left to form her cult, and she is willing to restort to violence, kidnapping and even murder to make her 'friends' join her. V had been so relentlessly beaten down by her and her behavior he lied that she died so the others wouldn't have to know that she's spiralled into... this.

Currently stuck on 13, can't wait to get destroyed again 😭

From what I've gathered, and somewhat experience, it mainly affects how much damage you take (You take like 25% on a direct missile hit), you get a few get out of jail free cards when you hit the ground (25% dmg I'm pretty sure), less ennemies, and missions where you need to accumulate points to reach a quota have a lower quota. Oh, and inifinite missile ammo, but secondary weapons are still limited. I don't know if it affects ennemy behavior... but there is a chance it does since I found the Shadows managable compared to escorting... (getting absolutely wrecked by mission 13 at the moment)

You could make the exact same argument about FRover and female self inserts, they have the same design elements and no one complains, which is why your argument falls apart. Also, they both are clearly meant to resemble a black cat, they were made with a very clear idea in mind, unlike your classic self inserts.

I agree with you with my entire soul, this man is SO tough and hot. I fully agree with the entire female cast I'd fold for this man too. I'm especially fan of what he's got going on with his hair, it looks so good and it makes me think of a cat's tail. Gosh, I'd love to see him with his hair down. He's humble too, but not in that annoying 'I didn't do anything way', it's 'We won cuz we all did our part'.
