I think gay culture siloed people into groups that were unnecessary and toxic in the long run. For example, the bear community is open to all but the skinniest body types, but can be brutal to people who are not masculine enough. There are communities that accept only twinks and people with thinner body types but reject dark skin and average bodies.

Don’t get me wrong. I also believe that New World slavery was worse however I do not think that the Africans involved in selling people into it were completely blind to the realities of selling people into an alien culture. It had already been happening with the Arabs.

Nobody is apologizing for anything. Slavery sucks and is bad 100% but what I’m not going to do is let Africans pretend that history doesn’t exist either. I agree that there wasn't a permanent race based "inferior" thing going on inside West and Central Africa, but that doesn't mean that the Africans were not aware of it. The European caste based slavery was not a new concept.

For centuries, African slaves were sold to Arabs in the Middle East. This began many centuries before the European slave trade and they also experienced the same permanent, trans generational concept of "inferior" that victims of the European slave trade experienced. The treatment was brutal and inhumane and the number of African slaves numbered in the tens of millions.

In fact, it was so bad that the colloquial Arabic word for slave or servant in North Africa and Middle East [abd (عَبْد) and its plural abeed (عبيد)] are insultingly used to refer to Black people to this day. In fact, it was Britain that stopped the trade in Palestine along with the racial hierarchy.

The only difference is that the Arab slave trade started race-neutral and then turned into a racial hierarchy after time and sheer numbers of black slaves while the European one turned into a racial hierarchy far quicker.

I know the history. My family even traced my our DNA back to one of the slave trading African groups. I realize it was not race based because that was my point. Black or white person would still sell your ass to the same elite slave owners in the Americas. So judging people based on that today is silly. It’s about the individual. That’s what my informed, not ignorant comment was about.

This is an Intel Ultra. I tried a second time but this time used the model exported as symmetric int4 (instead of asymmetric) and I no longer received out of memory errors. I think I might share this. For some reason, I could not find any easy to use LLM software for end users that utilizes the NPU. Mine does, and it works now (but it is hardware limited to 1024 to 2100 tokens). After that it fails.

The NPU in the most powerful Microsoft Surface laptops are memory constrained ~and cannot use more than a tiny amount of memory~. I made a program that uses the intel NPU and GPU. The NPU could not use anything but the smallest model and I ended up hitting the intel gpu.

Edit: I got it working. It is constrained to INT4 symmetric.
