"have you ever had a restraining order filed against you for sexual misconduct? if yes, tough shit, you can't join a frat"
Fraternities don't run background checks and you expect the individual to be honest?
It's not illegal to lie on such a form and neither the university nor fraternity is going to run background checks on every applicant.
The question is whether the university, or fraternity, have a legal obligation to do something when informed of something like this.
and he has to find a different apartment or dorm room.
I'm going to assume you wouldn't want a higher standard for fraternities than people living in school housing and including dorms is a mistake?
At any rate, I don't disagree in principle: fraternities in general should care about the character of a member. Found to be lying should be grounds for expulsion from the fraternity.
By and large though it's not a trivially enforceable system.
Edit to add RCW 28B.160.020:
(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, an institution of higher education may not use an initial admissions application that requests information about the criminal history of the applicant.
(2) An institution of higher education may, but is not required to, use a third-party admissions application that contains information about the criminal history of the applicant if the institution of higher education posts a notice on its website stating that the institution of higher education may not automatically or unreasonably deny an applicant's admission or restrict access to campus residency based on an applicant's criminal history.

Thanks for the link. Some thoughts.
First and foremost, page 4 and 5 clearly document what reads as sexual assault to me and on page 5: "On November 22, 2024, Mr. Ohara pled guilty to RCW 9A.44.060, Rape in Third Degree".
The claims of sexual assault are irrefutable.
From page 3:
The University of Washington has a duty to prevent its students from being sexually victimized by other students during university-affiliated events.
This seems to be the root of the complaint against UW. Page 6 mentions the prior restraining order with "Jane Doe 2" which according to the KIRO article:
In a statement to KIRO 7, UW said court records show the temporary civil restraining order was issued before Ohara and the other woman enrolled at UW and was no longer in effect by the time they began attending the university.
Page 6 seems to contain some nuance:
Both Jane Doe 2 and Mr. Ohara were members of the UW Greek System. The terms of the restraining order required Mr. Ohara to refrain from attending the same parties as Jane Doe 2
Yet, despite being fully advised of Mr. Ohara’s inappropriate sexual behavior and restraining order, UW and Pi Kappa allowed Mr. Ohara to join and attend events centered around alcohol with female students.
So as established:
- The restraining order prevented Ohara from going to the same parties as Jane Doe 2
- The restraining order was no longer in effect according to UW
- No mention if this party Jane Doe was at also had Jane Doe 2. If UW did have a legal obligation, then I guess that would mean he shouldn't have been at this party to begin with.
I have to wonder: it doesn't sound like the guy was criminally convicted of anything from the restraining order and at the time of going to UW the restraining order wasn't in effect. Why would UW have a legal duty to prevent this guy from engaging in fraternity activities (such as rushing)?
And as far as regulating/monitoring... I'm unsure how they could really keep tabs on this other than sharing a "do not associate with" list with the greek system? Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

Unfortunately Tesla still has the best FSD on the market by a large margin. I don't think anyone "needs" FSD, but I understand if there are various offerings like that which make someone lean towards the car.

Also the explosion in popularity of Reddit made it more botted and Facebook like in terms of the community culture and comment quality
I remember there were like 3 main image subs that would make top of /r/all and it was like /r/funny and /r/adviceanimals posting low-quality memes (side note: I happen to be here from /r/all).
Over time you slowly started seeing the crazy engagement/karma farming accounts like Gallowboob and others that would just recycle content and push the site more towards what we have today.
On the community culture/comment quality aspect, it sucks because even in niche technical subreddits the concept of "Reddiquette" is just dead.
People vote based on whether you conform to their viewpoint and emotions rather than on overall contribution to discussion. Karma doesn't really matter to me, but it does suck seeing downvotes thrown around in a way that discourage even slightly controversial discussion.

there wasting more
The VERBA is $800 and you can fill up a truck with I think 9? Two guys filling up a truck + one on each of them is (11 * 800) / 2 = ~$4400 each and I almost always find the free team truck at spawn. Chump change as you say.
I mix flying with infantry and I think AA is pretty balanced. These guys just don't have tactics down right.
The black hawk can usually tank 2 rockets unless a lucky hit takes out the tail rotor. The little bird dies to 1.
I usually fly a rocket little bird if I do CAS and a full loadout of 2 flares + 27 rockets (including the 6 loaded) is ~$18k.
If someone locks on to me, I use 1 flare to dodge that missile and usually have to use my last flare to go back to base because a second one is coming. Sometimes like with these guys if they're very patient, I have no idea where a rocket is coming from and might die having never used a flare / rocket because it caught me off-guard.
The inventory slots are 1:1 for flares, 3:1 for rockets. It usually takes 3 rockets minimum on target to kill infantry. 12 for a spawn vehicle, 6 maybe for a humvee.
It's an actual tradeoff between survivability and lethality. If there's too much AA and I have to go through too many flares to take them out, I'll just switch back to infantry.

In 2014 I showed it to my mom and her boyfriend and her boyfriend was so mad because he expected something profound that would change his perspective and shock the social fabric (paradigm shift). I figured he would have realized it was a joke at the state-mandated homosexuality, but I guess Sam has his ways of fooling people.

Depending on how you look at it the purpose of Docker was already defeated on macOS by necessity of running the VM to begin with.
The kernel is apparently very minimal and optimized for fast boot times. VMs can be very cheap to spin up (see Firecracker) so I don't really think it's terrible at face value.
At this point the concept of "Docker" can be seen in two ways IMO:
- A way to define an environment for an app to run in leveraging an OCI spec
- A way to define an environment for an app to run in, with app segregation a lightweight resource sharing.
I'd argue a lot of people only care about #1 -- especially on dev machines. Apple's approach does kind of provide #2 and gives a stronger isolation boundary. I think you'd really have to do some bizzaro profiling though to get an idea of the actual overhead each approach provides. It's probably close to negligible for Apple's containerization, if not negligible.
weirdasianfaces
Yes. Different architectures too. They both use Hypervisor.framework to run a VM, but Apple's container tool spins up a VM per container vs Docker's architecture of a single Linux VM shared across all containers.
Not too sure what the actual pros/cons of container is over Docker other than it's obviously closer integrated with the OS and the VM design means better isolation. From the project's README:
container is supported on macOS 26, since it takes advantage of new features and enhancements to virtualization and networking in this release.
So presumably Apple did something in the OS to facilitate the design they thought was best.

If you don't mind me asking, what region do you live in? Parking not being permitted on one side of a residential street is the edge case where I am (Washington State, US). I've never lived in an HOA though so maybe HOAs generally have some rules like this.

...modders gonna mod anyways?
This has been the case since Halo: CE. PC had a bunch of mods, Halo 2 for Xbox had a large modding community, Halo 3 for Xbox 360 had a large modding community. Obviously not officially sanctioned on Xbox though.
The difference with recent Halos (particularly MCC) is that they now have the infrastructure to support modding and it's been clear for many years that the community really wants mods.
I don't know why being under Activision would change that that very much. Black Ops 3 had official PC modding tools -- albeit that was released 10 years ago.
Technically, I don't even think any Halo titles besides MCC officially support mods? Correct me if I'm wrong.

or sometime ill make a mistake hitting a structure.
Or you have an incident like me, trying to do a tight turn after dodging AA and just crash into a tree/ground :p
Its not easy to make profit with rkt heli farming infantry, I try to mainly hunt vehicles.
Vehicles and emplacements seem to be the best route IMO. Mortars (and maybe SAM?) are considered vehicles and give $2k upon destruction. Kill someone on the emplacement and you get the kill money and emplacement money, but killing an emplacement may take like 6 or more rockets... so questionable value.
Anyways, fully agree. Since I finally got my mouse config down for CAS helis I think I've been barely profitable by a couple thousand dollars each match that I run them multiple times, or at a slight loss.
weirdasianfaces
I'm a decent pilot and I'll be real, the rocket heli isn't terribly economical unless there's a bunch of vehicles roaming around. The heli can hold 21 + 6 loaded rockets and 2 flares. I usually take 3 rockets minimum pretty close to on target to kill infantry which probably gives about $1200, giving about ~$10k per loadout if I actually get people in 3 rockets.
It varies though. I'm usually using rocket helis to take out emplacements or vehicles, otherwise I'll use the minigun heli which gets far better mileage. I don't have a good estimate of return on investment though.
Anyways, at least for the average to decent pilot like myself you have to be alive for a while and killing quite a few people to make significant profit. Otherwise they're a bit of a money pit or you barely break even.
In a lot of games now there's way too much AA in the mid to late game to be super viable.

This is simply not true.
With each reservation queue and corresponding waitlist being per-product, per-region, they can move at different speeds based on demand. This means for some products in some regions, we've reached the end of the reservation queue and have started inviting folks from the waitlist. We unintentionally skipped a step with this group by automatically sending the option-to-order email; moving forward, anyone who comes off the waitlist will first receive a message from us confirming you've been added to the reservation queue and can expect an option-to-purchase email sometime after that.
Importantly, no one on the waitlist is leapfrogging over anyone currently holding a reservation; we're only dipping into waitlists if and when we reach the end of the reservation queue for that product and region.

Emphasis mine. It simply makes no sense for people to be getting off the waitlist to purchase a console in the same region that people who have a reservation are still pending.
