Oh I done had a big messy cry over everyone being so nice. It’s a sucky club to be in but it helps to talk to people who miss their pets too. I’m sorry about your ladies. 💚

It sounds like he’s kin to my new boy Oy. Oy eats…. Everything…. Dewormer pill? Heck yes, kinda tasted bad but he ate it up.
Fairy light wire? Of course, $1k vet bill and me his squishing poops for four days.
Flaming hot Cheeto I dropped? Gone before I could grab it.
That t shirt that’s been floating around that says “I do not think, therefore I do not am” is him 100%. He’s an orange in a black cats body. 😂

That’s so many so close together, I’m so sorry. They really become part of your family. 🖤

The unique personality quirks me so happy. Xavier loved GRASS. Those cubes of cat grass? He would literally eat it until he couldn’t, take a nap, and eat more. I’d come home from work and bring him a nice long blade of yard grass and he was happier with that than treats.
He “escaped” the house while we were bringing in groceries and all he did was eat grass by the front door. Absolutely bizarre obsession with grass. He also loved a (very small amount) of teriyaki beef jerky.
I love everyone’s stories thank you all for sharing. 🖤💚🖤

HD supply or your appliance provider. Alternatively you can try a magic eraser/barkeepers friend, or remove them and try a bleach soak.
If you have muriatic acid that might work or it might melt the poor things, try it somewhere inconspicuous first. Make sure you get it all off, for sure, that stuff is nasty. Might want to remove the handles for that as well so you can rinse them and not worry about residue.
Be careful not to mix cleaners without a rinse, bleach + ammonia makes chlorine gas and that makes tenants sad.
As a Hail Mary I had a maintenance guy degrease and then use enamel spray paint on ugly old appliance parts. Idk how it will hold up on plastic, but the management company I worked for was a pain in the ass and we did a lot of crazy stuff to make things work.

I love bowls too! I have cried over a freaking bowl (it was my mom’s grandmas and I dropped it after a bad week and that was the last straw. I cried over a damn bowl.).
I like the trend of bowls that are like plates with a lip- like these. Some foods are nicer if I can see all of it at once? Like stew, I can sort the different things so they’re easier to eat “in order”.
When I was a teen my mom had these retro 70’s square Pyrex bowls and I wanted to take them when I loved out but she said no. 😂
I agree with others on the soup bowls with a handle, they’re nifty.

I mean I am, but it’s largely due to a work injury that derailed my life in 2023.
My foot was crushed (not to bits, but it ripped my tendons out of place and ripped one off the bone). Workers comp drug their feet with surgery so I spent too long in a walking boot, which borked my lumbar spine.
I developed CRPS which causes constant pain in the foot. Made it impossible to wear shoes for two years, needed tons of desensitization therapy and several nerve blocks. Now shoes are partly tolerable but only if they don’t touch part of the top of my foot (I’ve excluded almost 50 styles of sneakers/boots, people at shoe stores probably think I’m nuts).
My lumbar spine has swelling, herniated/bulging discs, and a slight tilt from being in the walking boot. I have worked physical jobs my whole life so my back hurt before, but not like to does now. I also get random numbness in my hands which is… neat, but is cervical spine related.
I’ve also got an orange sized cyst on one ovary and several smaller ones cysts. Endometriosis.
I did gain weight after my injury, but I’ve lost about 125lbs and I’m still losing. Unfortunately this was not the magical remedy that my ortho surgeon implied it would be, I’m still in pain all the time.
Spine specialist wouldn’t operate on me due to my age/CRPS. Insurance denied my spinal stimulator because I haven’t had spine surgery (yes they know the spine specialist won’t touch me). I fought for months to get approved to Intracept, a procedure that involves burning the nerves in part of my spine to death to reduce back pain and hopefully qualify for a spine stimulator. My surgery was supposed to be yesterday. The FDA recalled the devices used for the procedure due to the label design.
So yeah. Because life decided that wasn’t enough bullshit, my soon to be ex husband (17.5 years together) left eight months ago because I’m “not fun to have sex with anymore”. There’s more to that story but this is too long already.
I’m headed for permanent disability in the long run, waiting on a biopsy to see if I have cancer to top all of this off. Honestly I avoid thinking about it because if imma die, imma die. Hopefully my cat is on the other side.

Falling from a height is survivable, often with horrific injuries. Think being bed bound forever, or at least for months. Paralyzed in some fashion, permanent pain issues, etc. The human body is bizarrely resilient, but that doesn’t always mean you end up with any “quality” of life, unfortunately.
Many, many people attempt with firearms and end up with debilitating injuries instead. I’m not going to elaborate on the why/how, but my social worker has worked with multiple clients who attempted and failed with a firearm. (Obviously my social worker couldn’t elaborate past that because it would be unprofessional, but I asked them about it during a very low point in my life.)
OP- I can’t in good faith give you advice on methods, but I am here if you want to vent. I know it hurts, I’ve been there before and it’s very likely I’ll be at the bottom again.
I know the trite bullshit about life getting better doesn’t help, even when well intentioned. In fact it made me even more frustrated when I was struggling and people would just regurgitate empty words and phrases that meant nothing to my depressed brain.
I can listen. I can try to help you find resources to (hopefully) better your experience. I can commiserate. And if that’s not what you want/need right now that’s absolutely okay, I still wish you the best.

The video from the collision may be saved in another folder/subfolder because the dashcam detected a collision. I have a Rexing dash cam and was in a panic after an accident because I had all of the other footage but not the impact. Turns out it was hidden in a sub folder. I’m pretty tech savvy but managed to overlook it initially.
Of course it might not be, but I figured I’d comment and share just in case. Glad everyone was ok!

It can be very difficult to limit contact during custody battles. Family annihilators are scum. I had a cousin who was beaten almost to death by her estranged husband. This was AFTER he did time for attempted murder of his own brother and had multiple violent felonies. But the court insisted he had a right to see his kids. She begged for a protective order or limited visitation. She told the cops he was dangerous. She showed them pictures of her broken eye socket, broken ribs, and bruises. No, he had RIGHTS!
On their visitation weekend, he called her from a pay phone and said if he couldn’t have them no one could. By the time the cops got to the house he had shot and killed both kids in their beds. There was a standoff with SWAT and he blew his own head off. I almost wish he had lived to rot in jail but they probably would have let him out to hurt more people.
She sued the local P.D. but nothing came of it. She didn’t want money, she wanted to save other kids. It was a political shitshow and she ended up going off the radar because people were blaming her.
Sorry for the anecdote but every case like this boils my blood. I hope the poor mom in this case has a solid support network, I can’t fathom how she’s managing to do anything right now.

I was thinking about this earlier from another post. I got it from both parents- my mom drilled into me “you’d be surprised by how little you need to eat to survive” and established binge eating habits. It wasn’t all bad, what teenager doesn’t want to go get a dozen donuts and scarf them down on the way home? But now that’s a coping mechanism.
My biological father would “brag” about my weight like I was a prize heifer. “Would you believe she’s a solid 160 pounds!?” It was a shaming strategy. I was barely 16, uncomfortable in my body because I grew boobs very quickly (and painfully ugh).
He bullied his daughter from his first marriage until she ended up in the hospital due to her anorexia. She was 5’8” and 92 pounds. That’s a BMI of fucking 14. 18 is under weight (I’m tired and typed the wrong thing whoops). She almost died and he did it to me to.
So I spent my teen years fluctuating between bulimic and anorexic habits. Starve. Only eat one slice of toast. Exercise exercise exercise. Binge eat and purge. It was reinforced by a friends mom when I ended up couch surfing due to the shit home life.
As an adult I still struggle with binge eating and overall terrible food choices. I’ve dieted and lost weight but I would return to borderline starving myself and give up, then gained it back with a vengeance. It sucks and I’m still learning how to handle this but gaining some understanding as to why my relationship with food is the way it is has helped a little.
So uh, yeah. Agreed op. 😓

I’m so sick of people preaching this statistic like it means there’s no reason to treat this seriously. I had covid, and I’m still dealing with what it did to me almost a year on. My husband had it and while he is healthier than me by far he dealt with symptoms for months.
Surviving doesn’t mean you’re completely okay. Wear your masks and get your damn vaccines, don’t be a dick regardless of your stance. It’s not hard.

My great grandma and her brother were sold to pay off debt. They were kept in a barn like animals, they were only about 3 and 5.
It’s fucking insane to think about.

A generic note or a small whiteboard and dry erase marker.
Possibly easier option- maybe use the voice to text on your phone to sort of “translate” for you? Google translate is also pretty good in my experience, and since it puts the spoken “input” in one box you could read that side so you don’t have to know a second language.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Your attitude is incredibly mature. FWIW, I have a husband/wife contractor team and the wife is hearing impaired. She has a cochlear implant but still relies on lip reading. He told me she ended up crying in the van while he finished shopping before they came to do work earlier in the week. Mind you, she would kill him if she knew he told me, but she didn’t come in to see us like she normally does either. This situation sucks.

Absolutely beautiful photo. It reminds me of a very sad story.
Up the road from me, there was a fantastic Chinese place. Just your basic, strip mall, grab and go style setup with a daytime buffet. Small, run by a single family.
Mom and dad were there all day, every day. The friendliest, sweetest people. They had an adorable little boy, around eight, who was always doing his homework, playing, or chatting with customers. I goofed around with him a few times waiting for my food.
One day the little guy was out playing, and being a kid he was goofing around with a toy and stopped to kneel in a parking spot, I think he dropped it. He was in an empty spot, between two cars. A guy in a truck whipped into the spot and ran him over, killing him almost instantly.
The driver apologized over and over, saying he didn’t see him. It was deemed an accident. The family was understandably completely broken. They gave up on the business and moved back home.
Every time I drive that way I feel sad, they wanted the best for him and worked so hard to give it to him.

NTA. I’m a large person. Not as large as her, but heavy enough to worry about what and where I sit, stand, etc. As a larger person, she needs to come to terms with her shit. Why, how, etc, doesn’t matter.
Let’s put her size aside:
If your host asks you not to do something: don’t. You’re a guest.
If someone tells you that something is valuable to them, in this case your antique, it’s none of their business why. Respect it.
If you’re rude enough to continue to insist on doing what you want, you’re an asshole.
If you get mad when someone honestly tells you why they don’t want you to do something, you’re rude. It doesn’t matter if it’s something you don’t want to hear.
If you throw a temper tantrum because you can’t sit in the chair that you want, you’re a fucking toddler and need time out.
If your host tells you not to do something and you threaten to leave, it’s on you. At this point, she’s doing you a favor.
She obviously doesn’t appreciate having a free place to stay. So, adios, ciao, auf wedersehen. Go stay in the Motel 6 up the road, their furniture is cheap and replaceable so you can flop down all you want. Plus you get to pay the hotel for the privilege of staying there!
There’s a slim chance she was a bitch because she was embarrassed. Even so, she acted childishly. Her comment to your husband about you made my eye twitch.

I mean he was a cat, after all. If you promised him fish he would do anything. Just keep his collar on when giving him scritches. :p
Until, ya know, he was unbound and turned into Yreal and wanted to kill everyone. Or when he was an albino dwarf.
Very mild spoilers for the TV show Lucifer: she reminds me of Mazikeen, who is also a total badass. Thank you for adopting her, you’re a good one OP.
