Trump tore up Obama's "Iran Nuclear Deal" during his first term (2018).

https://youtu.be/U-mwFoev3OQ?si=tWSLwPFgM3WqvtiL

It's wasn't some unforeseeable moves by Iran that led to this. It was Trump's actions literally biting Americans in the ass.

Elon only likes competition in markets he isn't dominant in, and even after stating publically that Trump is in the Epstein Files, they are now buddy buddy. There is no chance that the free market capitalist beacon that is the United States will allow free markets.

Canadian provincial debt and personal debt is higher than that though. Contrary to what the CBC says, we are not in good shape.

The Growing Debt Burden for Canadians: 2026 Edition | Fraser Institute https://share.google/YebpAc1A1mbE1h7dN

Again, we are not as an located as the US, but every baby born in Canada is handed $55-60k in government debt.

Combine that with a little over $20k in non-mortgage debt per person. At $80k a year, even if we are only paying 5%, every family of 4 is paying $16,000 in interest in money that has already been spent.

If you read what I wrote, I said if his number is accounting for inflation or not and gave both scenarios.

Someone in the Trump administration understanding the economy is not something I make assumptions about because they have fooled me time and time again. Literally 10 days ago JD Vance was saying that the fed should lower interest rates.

Vance says Fed should lower interest rates: 'Would be nice to have some help' https://share.google/VFs4PuE9nU1y2Oyje

I always assume these guys are dumb as bricks.

This is pure bullshit. Just like Hunter Biden's laptop. We need to get to the bottom of Hunter Biden's laptop.

I see the Israeli propaganda machine is up and running today.

"50 years ago, a group of people that are all senior citizens or dead today did something horrible. We should apply this to the people Israel has been abusing in present day because they are all the same."

How about we learn from the past and not apply broad strokes to all people of a certain demographic.

wyle_e2

It will be interesting to see if Trump's hand picked guy to cut interest rates actually cuts interest rates (in opposition to common sense and actual reason), or if he does what he feels is best for the US.

wyle_e2

Don't worry, the US will increase their defense budget to counter this!

wyle_e2

I also forgot to mention the MASSIVE spending that artificially boosts GDP.

Carney’s massive budget deficit looms large in Canadian history | Fraser Institute https://share.google/YIpbFiuvTgQdT5jWE

Carney is a "money is free" guy. He left interest rates too low for too long at the BOE and since then, Great Britain has been stuck in the mud dealing with the economic drag created by the debt they are saddled with (in addition to their STUPID decision to leave the EU).

Hello Kate. Just wondering how you have been?

Trans Mountain pipeline ruling strikes 'devastating' blow to Canada's global reputation, energy sector warns | CBC News https://share.google/QY9P7AXNSeAHlJ9Ig

According to the CBC, the project (that was fully funded by the private sector for $7.4Billion) was halted because the courts determined that the federal government hadn't done their duty to consult. Kinder Morgan (the then owner of the pipeline) determined that the non-stop litigation against a pipeline that already had all of it's permits and approvals and had began construction was simply a waste of capital as the Canadian government wasn't serious about supporting private sector projects like this.

Once Kinder Morgan bailed, the federal government stepped in and bought the defunct project for $1.1 billion and proceeded to spend an extra $29 billion to build a $7.4 Billion pipeline.

This incompetence has absolutely petrified pipeline companies and nobody wants to invest in large Canadian projects, leaving us dependant on the Mango Mussolini for much of our export capacity.

I once read a quote:

"The business of China is business. The business of the US is war"

The current administration has absolutely thrown that in the world's face. Trade wars, proxy wars and outright wars. The world is finally paying attention and positioning themselves accordingly.

Would you rather be partners with someone who wants to build together or someone who wants to take from you?

If you think I am being dramatic, "The Gordie Howe Bridge" between Canada and the US was paid for 100% by Canada. They hired construction companies from both countries. The agreement was that Canada would recoup the costs (through tolls), and after that Canada and the US would share the tolls. The US has refused to let the bridge open because they are demanding more.

Not supportive of powerful women, huh? It's this kind of attitude that's keeping women down! Fuck the patriarchy!

wyle_e2

I'm always excited to see how much more insane the plot can get. How else can the average person get screwed by the cronies capitalism that has replaced an actual, functional economy?

Personally, I think we jumped the shark with locking down small businesses during COVID while Walmart was open. This new war on Iran seems like it could lead to some nice inflation and deviate people's savings and retirement.

The "*estimated by Chat GPT" at the bottom really sells it..... (/s this is nowhere NEAR realistic)

From ChatGPT:

Summary:

If you give 2 months’ notice and your employer ends your job immediately:

They must still pay you statutory termination pay equal to what they would have owed if they were ending the job (e.g., 2 weeks if you have 2–4 yrs’ service). Calgary Legal Guidance

They must pay all wages, vacation pay, etc., by the statutory deadline. Alberta.ca

You might also be entitled to additional common-law severance depending on circumstances (not required by the Code). libra-law.ca

I don't think you are disagreeing with the first two points Chat GPT makes. (You are entitled to the legal minimum notice, as well as your vacation pay, etc.)

I am saying that people assume that is all they are entitled to. However, that likely isn't true. Common law severance is a very real thing and is typically much higher than the minimums. It usually works out to a month per year of service. If you took an employer to court, the court is going to look at numerous factors to determine if you are eligible. One factor is length of service. Three (or five) years for the OP is significant. Another factor is: How likely is the employee going to be able to find employment to replace their lost wages? Since the employee is quitting to go to another job in 2 months, the odds of finding employment for those two months, prior to starting their new job is essentially zero.

An employee being walked out the day they give notice that they are ending the employment contract in two months is VERY likely entitled to common law severance.

I would give two months notice that I am quitting. I would state that I will be working at a new job in 2 months, but start my new job whenever I wanted and tell noone that I started working there.

I would pay an employment lawyer to draft a letter demanding the old company paid me for the full two months of my notice based on Common Law Severance. I would expect the company to get legal council that would tell the company that there is a good chance I would be entitled to Common Law Severance based on years of service, and that I had a job lined up for 2 months from now. They would also say that the extra 6 weeks of pay that they pay me is less than the legal fees would be if this were to go to court, and there is a good chance the company would have to pay that on top of their legal fees anyway. I would collect the check for the extra 6 weeks of pay.

If it did go to court and the judge asked when I started my new job, I would likely NOT get common law severance. However, I have no reason to believe it would go to court.
