Good lord I hate biking in the rain, and biking in the rain at night even more. But pictures look rad!

I seem to recall quite a bit of support on muzzing like this back when Elon didn't own Twitter. Y'all are fucking shameless lol, the hypocrisy is unreal.

How is any of this client-side at all?
yofuckreddit
Thank you for putting it into words - I'm still more scared of humans using AIs than anything else.

New app fucking sucks tbh, the old one was superior in pretty much every way.

I see that the data looks good today and has a lot of AI-generated content (Claudish sets my teeth on edge).
Is the system set up to regularly poll from COHDB and respond to patches, or will it require some manual intervention from ya?
EDIT: Nevermind, I see the note:
The v1.0 download remains a self-contained HTML file for easy local use. A separate JSON export is also provided so future patch updates can edit the structured profiles for all four factions, creator builds, rankings, ELO rows and map-fit metadata without reconstructing the page manually.

I had the same question - Loved the other Zunes, thought they crushed the UI with the HD.

I lived in Charlotte for a while where Cowfish started, was always a cool restauraunt concept. Bummed it didn't work out in Birmingham.

Ah, yes, giving the homeless even more impunity for antisocial behavior will lead to a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. One smashed window at a time.
yofuckreddit
That's a bummer. To be clear, I'm using the Evergreen "deal" in the web-app.

Have to say I've been tempted, but eating more than 3 slices only feels good at the time. 3,400 calories is non-trivial!

An $18 Large 3-topping pizza feeds 2 adults and 3 kids pretty easily. It's not Dominos, but it's a lot of food for the money.

I personally think wrenching on a bike is fun, and buying components is fun.
One bad habit I got into, though, was buying a new accessory or component as a reward for a new performance milestone, even if they were lateral moves or an adjustment I didn't need to make. Two things helped:
- I gave myself permission to buy aesthetic stuff - matching colors for components - especially for wear items.
- I started putting money away for buying a complete ideal bike and tweaking that digital twin in an Excel workbook instead of doing it on my current machine. When the frame hits 10,000 miles I'll be able to buy exactly what I want in one shot.

Many DTC manufacturers will let you select crank sizes, stem configs, handlebars, etc. The legacy guys won't do it, but you may be able to convince your LBS.
yofuckreddit
To point 1: Yes, beginners often aren't sure of what they want, once again myself included. But I did buy a cheaper bike than I knew I wanted, and that's the one that's been totaled and needs the bottom bracket cartridge replaced every 1,500 miles. My hope would be that someone spends just a little bit more on a bike with components they want so they spend less later.
I also see your point about individual components. Saddles were an absolute journey for me, handlebars have been interesting, and I think knowing what gearing you need requires a lot of time on the machine.
However, sometimes the wisdom of the crowd is just correct. I could have gotten upgraded wheels on my midrange carbon bike. Every review said it was worth it! Instead, I struggled with the stock wheels losing air and weighing down the rest of the components for years until a nice carbon set went on sale for $750. I could have gotten similar ones for a $500 upcharge when I bought it.

This whole thread will be a circlejerk saying "It's OK" to OP. Including me in a root comment! Because I've done this same thing!
BUT for anyone else reading the thread who is getting in to biking you should know that buying a bike you know you will like is far, far, far more cost effective then buying one that's kind of what you want and modifying the components.
And I don't think that buying an imperfect bike and trying to hack it into something nice "builds character" or makes you a better mechanic. You'll get plenty of experience fixing and maintaining a machine you love from the start. There's no intrinsic value in building a frankenbike.
For the vast majority of people, it's worth getting a new bike on sale or a gently used bike from a dentist that's in the configuration and quality level you want.

I've totaled my hardtail MTB, and I do feel stupid in some ways because the "bones" of it weren't worth investing in.
But it's adapted to my needs and desires over the past 5,000 miles. I know for a fact what I want in my next bike. Learning it may have cost some money, but there wasn't another way to predict what would matter as I started in the hobby.

I was extremely hesitant to get into clipless. I do like it quite a bit now, don't think I'll go back. That said:
- I only do 2-bolt SPDs, and have double-sided pedals.
- Getting perfect shoes feels impossible. I've beat my feet into some that kind of work, but at ~100 miles they hurt.
- I would never clip in mountain biking, I don't get it. I only do for gravel.

My thing is that consultancies just aren't good shepherds for SaaS companies. The tech may be great, but I don't know if ACN is the right owner.
yofuckreddit
Yeah you do finish below because it'll keep going up 2-3 degrees after you pull, then the sear will get it up further.
As another comment stated you'll generally want to target 115 or 120 to stop. I think people make big ribeyes too rare as a rule - they're fantastic at medium and a blue ribeye kind of sucks (in contrast to a filet or strip)
yofuckreddit
Disagree on the Demon sauce. It tasted OK, but the color was just fucking awesome.
yofuckreddit
I do agree with your overall point fwiw - prices at TB have gone up quite a bit across the board.
yofuckreddit
I think it's telling that these price whining posts are always discussing the quesadillas.
It's been the worst value in Taco Bell's menu for more than a quarter century. You guys - you simply cannot buy them there. It is a product designed to steal money from idiots.
Do they taste good? Sure. But they're half the food of a burrito for double the price. Not to mention they're the easiest thing to make at home or get a better version of at a real restaurant.
Complaints about a product that's been a ripoff for 25 years just really get old.
yofuckreddit
You've gotten good advice here. Figure out a way to do at least one, ideally two overnighters with a loaded bike. There is a huge difference between a 25 mile ride on an unloaded bike and what y'all are trying to do, and you won't appreciate it until you physically give it a shot.
I understand and am sympathetic to the argument that if we don't make fields like this "fun" for humans we'll end up losing our ability to make progress without the assistance of silicon. Maybe.
Beyond that I think this sort of petulant attitude is reductive. Programming has changed forever, and tbh it's fuckin' great. We'll adapt and figure things out.
For math and physics I'm not sure humans had the capacity to push much further. But these breakthroughs will lead to more meat-based progress, if Go and other gaming AI is anything to go on.
