I agree with the rest of your points but are you sure about number 4?
There's a requirement of necessity to self defense in South African law - the court will always ask whether the lethal action you took was the only and necessary way to defend the life or bodily integrity of yourself or someone else.
If, for example, someone breaks into your house to steal your living room TV and you are in your bedroom behind a security gate, it's not necessary for you to use lethal force because you have the option of remaining in / retreating to a safe area behind the security gate where the intruder can't get to you.

Going to disagree with you there... If you exit the safety of your house and confront a potential attacker, you've placed yourself into a situation where there may be a threat to your life and the court will likely ask you why you escalated things instead of staying safely inside. Remember, you usually cannot use lethal force to defend property (and yes, that includes pets).
Another example: if someone is in your living room stealing your TV, and you have a security gate in the corridor to your bedroom, you can't shoot them through the gate because you aren't in imminent danger - you have the option of retreating to your bedroom and remaining safe. However, if your child was in the living room with them while they were stealing the TV and they were threatening your child's life or bodily integrity, then you could use lethal force to defend the other person's life.

- Is there a threat to life or bodily integrity
Legally you can use lethal force to defend against something like grievous bodily harm or rape.

It's not just about believing in it, it's actually the law.

Yup

Gunnery in Somerset West is good too.
za_snake_guy
Because past a certain point if untreated the bites are deadly.

It's real. I used to live near that estate and removed many snakes from there, mostly Cape Cobras and Boomslang.

Cape Cobra (Naja nivea).

Common Slug-Eater (Duberria lutrix). Harmless.
Thank you!
