A valid question and I agree, but likely interpreted as cope.

Moon is a complete fake. Without AI, you get a blurry, glowing bulb.

zambizzi

Ah, strange, mine does not. 😆

An anecdote: I'm wrapping up a demo of a complete microservices platform, full-stack, deployable to AWS via CDK, with a slick, simple local setup and e2e debugging in VS Code. Full OAuth, 8 services with their own databases, a data warehouse, caching, and a React frontend with auth and some basic demo features. Written entirely by hand, using Gemini for basic help...basically only for research and lookup. Zero vibes.

I'm an Enterprise Architect and have been a dev for about 30 years. The whole exercise is to show that most teams tend to over-engineer solutions like this, and you don't need a big team to manage this stuff.

Put your buds in, go here, and turn media volume all the way up. Then use the swipe on the buds to control the volume. It's like a computer... because it is a computer.

I saw the same thing. WTF is this all about?

zambizzi

I've had mine for four months and have zero problems. 🤷‍♂️

Karma bait

Not taboo, just tacky if you don’t know someone well enough. Maybe it’s an American thing and only seems uncouth to us. At least, that’s how I was raised.

zambizzi

Complaints all the way down.

zambizzi

This is an age-revealing type of question. How much money do YOU make? See? It’s none of my business.

zambizzi

Congrats! I use and enjoy both, but you should temper your expectations. I’m not bias. Both have “hiccups” that can make the entire experience seem frustrating at times.

zambizzi

Who and what the fuck are you talking about? Trump? He sucks, just like his predecessors, but no one sucks more than communists. You’re not only licking boot, but now you’re standing in a breadline, trying not to die.

zambizzi

The only way to avoid this, if you want to use Gemini, is to pay for it. They train on free users.

zambizzi

Maybe we need a Stack model, trained to give you that old school experience. It only berates you, rewrites your post, then marks it as a duplicate. No real answers to problems.

zambizzi

Is it though? Anecdotally, no one I know has kept a smartphone for 7 years. Maybe 3, but usually more like 2, at the most. Not saying there isn’t a segment of the market that keeps phones for several years, I just think it’s more of a marketing feature than a valuable one.

zambizzi

I don’t get foldables at all, and I’d never consider one, but do whatever makes you happy.

This guy gets Google. As a lifer in software engineering, I learned early on in Google's evolution to never trust them.

zambizzi

Reluctantly, yes. As the ecosystems close in around users and become more invasive to personal privacy, I'm unwinding my participation in all of them.

Apple does an amazing job with hardware, and if you're uncurious about technology, the software is great, too. It's not new, exciting, and cutting-edge...they play it safe. It's pretty boring for me, as a 30 year software engineer.

I got a Pixel 10 Pro XL, Watch 4, and Buds Pro 2, all for less than a new iPhone Pro Max, and it's supported for nearly twice as long. Apple hardware gets incrementally (unnoticeably) better every year, and the price keeps going up.

I'll buy whatever allows me to own my hardware and do whatever I like with it, for as long as I like. A locked down device at north of $1500 is obscene.

48 going on 30 years, professionally. I manage and lead a team, still write and generate code, refractor, redesign, architect solutions, mentor, shield the team from noise and chaos, orchestrate meetings and conversations no one wants to deal with, and generally grease the wheels to keep everything moving.

I also have a great deal if autonomy and very little oversight, at this point. I'm enjoying myself.

zambizzi

Meh.

zambizzi

None as it's basically all the same. Swap out your battery if needed and keep on trucking.

zambizzi

What I'm rocking right now. It's great!

zambizzi

Instant upgrade! Only $1499.00!

Welcome to the future...until it's not, and this delusion crashes back down to earth. The industry is just now fully embracing vibecoding and beginning to push their slop into production at a rapid pace. We can't even know the impact, yet.

They don't call them "corrections" for nothing.
