I thought the observer was covering that part of it when he said “You are not making that call when it occurs.” Meaning, if you’re going to call travel for establishing pivot foot in the wrong place, you have to do it right way.

Apparently tried to get permission to walk through the English Channel Tunnel but got denied.

I’m not sure what your point is. But if you think native prairie is the same as cow pastures or any kind of farm, you don’t know much biology.

What’s so bad about the relegation? I watched the race, but don’t have the context of how things were generally called at that event. I would assume it’s for Kenny flashing above the red line entering the final turn, right as Bauge is trying to pass and Bauge’s front wheel is overlapping Kenny’s rear. It forces Bauge to avoid, and looks like a pretty classic deviation to me.

My wife has been a couple times and loves it. Very similar experience to the other response you got.

Either Bean-Goose species would have a mostly dark bill. This is a young Greater White-fronted Goose.

I read a lot of horror stories about them as well, but my experience is usually more positive. Out of maybe 10 I’ve stayed in over the last year, 9 have been awesome, and the 10th was in a location that made the trouble worth it.

Simple version: 1) There are lots of places where hotels don’t exist or are way too few to meet the market, and staying in an airbnb gets me way closer to my actual destination. 2) Having a kitchen to cook our own food can save a ton of money and time/hassle. 3) When traveling with groups, having a communal space to ourselves is awesome, and hotels don’t provide that.

We’re super careful about places we rent, and we still occasionally have bad experiences. Any non-stellar reviews are a big red flag.

I agree that this is a Yellow-throated Warbler. Note that there is an endemic warbler in the Bahamas that used to be considered part of Yellow-throated Warbler, but is now treated as a separate species, Bahama Warbler. Bahama Warbler has a longer bill and yellow extending down to the belly, unlike this individual.

They’re ducks, probably Northern Pintail based on shape and overall coloring, but tough to be sure from this photo. Lots of pintail migrating down the Sound right now, along with a number of other duck species.

I went to elementary through high school with the actor who played Adam Banks. He played for our high school hockey team, and definitely got targeted some by other teams.

Yeah, I never saw the cannonball open on my visits there. Bumper boats were fun but came with a solid dose of exhaust fumes.

Same in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and a number of other European countries. After growing up in the US, traveling in those places as an outdoor enthusiast is incredibly liberating. Like, I see a cool landscape, and I don’t have to worry about who owns it and how angry they might be if I go walking in it.

MAMU is also a very different shape, more slender-bodied with thin wings and small bill.

zeledonia

All of this is accurate. The last two photos are a first-year Rhinoceros Auklet, their bills are thinner and they tend to be more contrasty on the body.

The loon is a breeding plumage Pacific. They’re both pretty common in the area this time of year. The dark underside of the neck and the pale nape are distinctive for Pacific. I live in the area and see hundreds of all three of our regular loon species every year.

Could you provide some more detail on these situations? As a fellow cyclist who has tried very hard to understand this law, it sounds like you might be assuming you have the right of way when you don’t.

zeledonia

It’s definitely a young Heermann’s Gull. Probably a second-year bird, based on the contrastingly pale rump and pale tips to the inner feathers on the wings.

Famous British sailor Robin Knox-Johnston would, while sailing solo, jump in, swim along with his boat, then catch a line to pull himself back onboard. Seems incredibly risky but it worked for him.

IMO the last stretch along the slope of Table Mountain back to Artist Point is a way nicer finish with than the descent to Heather Meadows. So going counterclockwise, I’d start at Artist Point.

zeledonia

That’s ridiculous. Anyone going to a coffee shop expecting it to be a quiet space where they can work is ridiculously entitled. They can get that at a library.

My wife has a La Pavoni, and we used to ship to Home Espresso Repair for fixes when we lived in Minnesota. Now we live a couple blocks away!

I know you made other comments in this thread supporting OCWA (which I agree this bird is). Just want to add that gray-headed Orange-crowns are not uncommon on the west coast in migration. Almost always outnumbered by lutescens, but it’s not surprising to see them.

I was skeptical, but found a bunch of news articles including this one: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/21/monkeys-blamed-for-hundreds-of-puppy-deaths-captured-in-india

Not sure exactly what you mean by sanctioned.

In Washington state, there are organized high school state championships, but they’re run by the local nonprofit organization, DiscNW.

In Seattle middle schools (grades 6-8), mixed ultimate is an official school sport.
