1) IIRC, Sheeana's existence was prophesized. I don't recall whether that prophecy was actually more along the lines of BG meddling in a culture type thing, but retrospectively it makes the most sense as a taunt of the Tyrant echoing from ancient religion. I read the Duncan gholas as a means to capitalize on a power to control a girl who could control the worms more than anything else. The BG didn't know when the girl to control shaitan would appear, so they kept ordering more gholas. The HM shooting themselves in the foot with Duncan seemed to be a happy accident the BG were able to pivot around in order to achieve the goal of freeing themselves from the Tyrant. Taraza saw current events of the universe as a log jam and was looking for places to poke in order to get things flowing again. Snap decisions she made was to direct force to the key logs and break the jam. 2) The HM whole thing was "we can control you through sex". Duncan turning that around on them was an existential crisis. Every trace of the BG had to be destroyed in order to ensure they could dominate the universe. Rakis was a key log. The BG directed the HM there to achieve their only goal (the sisterhood must persist). 3) Countless worlds had already been destroyed in the fremen jihad. Countless more died off in the famine times. The HM were trying to reverse engineer what were basically doomsday devices, so whatever conflicts the HM were fleeing from would have had world annihilations be a typical event.

UE6 is going to backfire on them.
UE4/5 have been valuable because of how widespread its userbase became due to no barrier of entry and an ever expanding knowledge base (despite Epic's seemingly best attempts to destroy it with each minor release).
Take Halo for example. They investigated the potential of adopting Unreal over continuing to use their internal proprietary tooling. The conclusion of the investigation was basically that yes it would be cost-effective, but not time-effective. Being able to hire developers and have them be productive potentially day 2 vastly beat the month(s) long onboarding process they had. However, it would take them multiple years to build up a new back-end framework tailored to how Unreal does things.
They ultimately decided to go with Unreal, but I'm not expecting that to work out for them in the long run now. With Actors and Blueprint looking at removal, there's not going to be a market surplus of knowledgeable developers they can hire on. Instead, you're looking at the requirement of highly experienced senior devs to pour through LLM regurgitation to pick apart why it doesn't work and architect a means for it to work.
But why are you going to need senior devs for that? Agentic coding is going to write the game code! How? LLMs work by training on a critical mass of source material. THERE IS NO TRAINING MATERIAL FOR VERSE BECAUSE IT ISN'T OUT YET. The best the LLMs will get in this regard is to do their best to output strings that are acceptable syntax. LLMs have no agency and can not rationalize cause and effect. They are not going to be successful in engineering the transactional nature of Verse. What's going to happen is actually worse. They're going to look like they output correct script. They are going to tell you they output correct script. And they're going to tell you that they are totally sorry and will have to do better next time when you plug that script into a commerce system.

There's a reason why 5.7/5.8 have been making preparations for agentic workflows directly within the editor. At least 5.8's sandboxes feature will prevent agents from wrecking your entire project (assuming the feature works correctly) when AI Engine 6 rolls out.

Wait a minute. Did that one guy have freakin missile launchers on his shoulder?

I haven't gone past Gleba. What's the water for? Looks like it feeds into tanks, but doesn't get consumed by anything. The chem plant seems to be in the middle of producing water though, so is it actually getting consumed by something? edit: nevermind, i see the underground going left now.

30 million? Where's the other 12-13 million?
zeph384
The interesting thing is that they're still available for pre-order.
zeph384
Absolutely. I supported the kickstarter hoping that they'd eventually offer a public SDK or at least enterprise licensing.
zeph384
At least we can tell from the poor spelling and grammar that they haven't fired all their journalists and started using AI to generate articles.

Why would FEMA pay for an ICE facility? Especially when they haven't even flooded yet?

If widgets aren't a tool that was designed to handle this, then the console isn't either. Both are user interfaces. One uses written syntax, the other is graphical.

I gave it a try (self hosted). It straight up isn't ready to be considered a replacement or fit the self-hosted-wants/needs shaped hole it's intended to fall into.

They're in the turn lane heading to Warrior's Path campground.

So it sounds like the goal of the tariff is to bring back manufacturing jobs.
You do not bring back manufacturing to the United States by imposing tariffs which raise the price of raw materials. Mandate For Leadership sees China as the big bad guy and outlines several notions with the goal of stomping it out of existence. A trade war is part of that. The first term, they were completely unprepared and didn't manage to achieve much of anything. Leading up to this second term they plotted out what they wanted to do in preparation but didn't put much, if any, thought into how to actually do it. That's why the goals and the outcomes aren't lining up.

The law is clear. Get all the facts on paper and take them to a lawyer that specializes with business law and/or copyright.

Don't forget to file a lien against the property for the contract work they never paid you for before reporting him. That way, when they are deported you're allowed to have the property seized and liquidated to pay the debt.

Oof, yeah. It got worse since I last heard from family that went into work there. The banks that were along the river are just gone now. River turned it into a big ramp that the surge could just push up and into there.

NFS and the other industrial lots are basically on a hill. No flooding there AFAIK. It's mainly at the lower parts by the hospital where things are just gone now. Rock Creek is apparently flooded, but no more than usual.

Long story short, I hid some code in a deliberately leaked asset
You have no case. You just admitted to giving the asset away.

tow stands for telemetry over wire. so yes, tows are still guided by wire.

Which Pal's is this? Burger, fry, and drink is now over ten dollars. Before COVID, it was 7.65. Tray at Cookout back then was 5.25 (now 8 dollars). Pal's prices hasn't inflated as much in terms of percentage, but it has definitely gone up.
