So , huge part of this, to the Dine (Navajo cultures) this isn’t just some spooky monster. A skinwalker is basically an evil cannibal sorcerer who can use magic to shape shift into animals. At 300 yards a person walking around is like a tall skinny ant, so you are shooting at them but it’s not very easy to go out beyond that unless you have a high powered scope 10x zoom and above. So most optics are zeroed to that range or closer. Probably the closest they would reasonably ever zero to would be like 100 yards, which is normal for casual hobby shooters but is bordering on close quarters for a military engagement.

The rifle could be zeroed to anything from 200 yards on the short end to 1000 yards at the extreme end of its capabilities.

Some other rifles can go out well beyond that but 1000 yards with an SVD would be a hell of a shot on a man sized target tbh.

At a glance this looks like about 300 yards, maybe more. The 300 yard target at my range is a gong the size of a pizza and bigger than the drone looks in this video.
