Please help me pick a watch

Hi Reddit,

I’m buying a watch for my partner. For reference it would be a daily wear.

Here’s my dilemma, he’s a pilot and the Oreo GMT would be perfect however but it’s a big watch (thickness) I also love the new Seamaster Planet, I like the strap and it’s more flush. My worries are that it might not be as timeless?

I don’t know anything about watches any help I could get would be amazing.

He has a speedmaster and seamaster already in his watch collection (I only have one photo of his seamaster)

He's a pilot? Then maybe the PO GMT. What's your budget? Does he like Breitling? He already has two Omegas, I'd look at a Navitimer.

PO GMT it is then 😄. The GMT complication was originally designed for Airline pilots that had to cross different timezones so I'm sure he'll like a PO GMT.

If they already own the Seamaster 300 in picture 4, I would go with either the Oreo GMT or consider possibly another GMT watch. The grey Seamaster in picture 2 doesn’t have a GMT function, so for all intents and purposes it would be the same watch functionally as the one in pic 4, but a more modern look. A GMT watch is great for someone always travelling (im assuming you mean your partner is a commercial pilot) as it more easily allows them to set 2 different time zones. Ie the GMT hand gets set to “home” time so they can easily tell what time it is where you are while they’re flying about and they can set the regular hours/minutes hands to local time. That’s a function that the watches in picture 2&4 don’t have. You might also want to look into Breitling Navitimer, which is a classic “pilots watch”. Can also be had in GMT.

But if an Omega fan, that Oreo GMT is a great choice. One more recommendation is look at an Aqua Terra GMT.
