Weird metal thing, no clue what it is

Maybe about 2 inches long? Not heavy at all. It's been floating around my family's house for years and I only thought about it now. I don't even know who it could've come from.

EDIT: Solved! Cloth clamp for a picnic table.

It’s a table cloth clamp for a picnic table.

Solved! Thank you!

How does it 'clamp' the cloth and table? It doesn't look like it has much strength.

I did search pictures and it looks like it just holds it in place. But surely wind could blow the thing away?

These usually just fit the edge of a picnic table. You have to use some force to get it on and it kinda folds the table cloth around the edge of table so there is no place for wind to get under and lift table cloth. These work much better than table cloth weights. I had both, the clamps are part of camping supplies, the weights were given away because they were useless.

I know this has been solved, but I can't help noting that the punched metal looks a lot like one of the inserts for a cookie press. I wonder if they used the same template?

my title describes the thing. again its very light. not bendy at all and the thing holding the two pieces together aren’t screws or nails.
