i was talking to my landlord after i moved in and we came across some of the kids toys in the lawn. i'm like yeah i tripped over one the other morning at 430am and was half tempted to throw it in the woods. she's like yeah i just throw them in the dumpster.

Good, fuck the little shit if he can't learn responsibility.

sorry_

Aaaaand that's how we get arrested

Reverend_James

How? OP didn't touch the kids scooter, he just put his trash out like he was supposed to and the kids scooter happened to be next to where the trash goes.

[deleted]

No I think it's that pobody up there said to fuck the little shit.

The ol' Sandusky approach

if you leave your shit all over the street then you can't really bitch about if something goes missing. if it's your own yard then that's one thing.

sorry_

No no agree, you just missed the pedo joke.

flimflammed

How about at least donate it? Some less fortunate kid would probably be thrilled to have it.

I didn't put it explicitly in the trash bin. Just put my bins out beside where it had been sitting for the past couple days. Best case someone would rescue it before collection time.

Lucky for them he's the only redditor who lives near kids with bikes.

I'd rather not be seen with what's now a stolen scooter and I wouldn't want to put it online either. Let the wise trash dudes handle it. They'll know which kid got jack shit for Christmas.

egor221

I feel like if a scooter is sitting next to the garbage bins it’s fair game for anyone to grab

How big of a problem is a little kid's scooter in your yard or on the sidewalk in front of your house? OK, so the kid is irresponsible. All kids are. Throwing his scooter away is a dick move.

smartypants420

That's why it is a confession bear dude

still-improving

Ah, that's all that it takes to escape condemnation for bad behaviour.

smartypants420

Dude do you even meme?!

still-improving

If by that do you mean "Is correct meme usage valid justification for immoral behaviour", then no.

We have city and HOA rules about property upkeep.

I also live next to an empty lot that is maintained as a greenspace. Kids from around the entire community come to play there. When mowing season starts, all items left in the empty lot are moved to my yard by the landscaping crew and then when my crew mows the items are moved once more onto my patio. Two summers ago I played a weekly game of hot potato, placing the items back into the lot for whatever kid to reclaim, only to have them back on the patio. I now have a collection of clothes, balls, and other items after I grew tired of it.

It was my hope that moving the scooter closer to the trashcan would prompt someone to take it before the afternoon collection the next day. Whoever took it, the problem is solved for now.

pick up after yourself is a life lesson. Wouldn’t want to be raising little jerks now, would we?

[deleted]

Yeah it would suck for more people to turn out like OP.

Maybe say something to them or the parents like a normal person.

letsfuckinrage

Sorry you lost your scooter, buddy.

k-squid

The kids who frequently leave their shit all over other people's property aren't the kids who have parents who give a shit.

theducker

You sound like a pleasant person. Having some kids toy on your lawn is really that big of a deal for you?

PiousHeathen

If it's his lawn, and it's not his kid, it's not his responsibility to care for it, especially if that kid has been leaving their stuff in his yard constantly. This will be an object lesson. Being a "pleasant person" does not include "letting little shits leave their trash all over my property" with no consequences.
