HDMI to RCA or Coax converter?
I'd love to hook my blu-ray player up to my TV, it only has an HDMI out so I'm looking for reccomendations for a converter. My CRT only supports coax but my vcr player has rca input, is one better than the other? Any brand reccomendations? Thank you in advance :).

If your TV only has Coax then it’s likely mono. I would recommend going with the HDMI-to-AVI and then get a AV-to-RF adapter. The AV-to-RF will fold the audio down to mono correctly so that you don’t get the little bit of distortion that a RCA “Y”adapter will cause going to your VCR (it sounds like your VCR just has the yellow and white RCA’s for mono). With Blu-Ray, most are in 7.1 or 5.1 and you can set it to output just 2.0 PCM, which it’ll downmix too. However if you do not use both channels in going down to mono you’ll lose possibly important sound, like if someone speaking into the left front channel instead of the center, you would loose that.

Okay, thank you for the info, especially about the audio, I didn't even think of that! My VCR has the red, yellow, and white RCAs, does that change anything or would it still be best go to with hdmi-avi then av-rf?

Actually your VCR should work. It’s already designed to fold stereo VHS tapes down to mono over RF.
