I remember seeing it on Global in the 80’s.

ProjectCharming6992

Remember that Koenig wrote the script for “The Infinite Vulcan” from TAS that Alan Dean Foster in “Star Trek Log 2”.

He also voiced the audio adaptation of the novel “Windows On A Lost World”.

You’ve got a S-VHS-C camcorder there. You’ll need a S-Video cable or S-VHS-VCR to get the highest quality from it. There are SQPB VHS VCRs that will play S-VHS-C, but only at VHS quality.

You’ll also want a high quality capture device such as a Canopus ADVC-100/-300 or Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. Those Easycap/Clearclick/IO Data USB2/clone devices will only capture half your resolution and framerate.

ProjectCharming6992

That’s not confirmation. That’s AI misinformation.

ProjectCharming6992

I’m not the one making a spectacle. You are the one who is because they have no clue what they are talking about. Go back to daycare junior, that’s where the infants are.

ProjectCharming6992

No it’s not used by professionals. Professionals use Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.

ProjectCharming6992

How can you when you have it glued shut with garbage and delusions.

ProjectCharming6992

You’re the clueless one. Nice try with your garbage analog transfer.

ProjectCharming6992

No it’s not. It’s a horrible compromise.

ProjectCharming6992

No you’re not with Video8 or Hi8 over FireWire. That’s a big fat piece of misinformation.

And no, S-Video is absolutely not cleaner than FireWire. That’s another bit of misinformation in your statement.

ProjectCharming6992

You’re absolutely delusional. Stop spreading misinformation.

ProjectCharming6992

I do know how to do analog video correctly. It’s you that has zero clue about it.

ProjectCharming6992

No they aren’t, especially when they see the garbage it spits out, then they are asking people like me to improve the garbage after the tapes have been thrown out.

Stop being delusional.

ProjectCharming6992

And no it cannot capture 480i 29.97 or even 576i 25 because the hardware does not support that. The hardware only supports 240p 14.99 or 288p 12.5 because it’s only capturing 1 field. I know because I tested it and it’s an Easycap clone piece of garbage.

ProjectCharming6992

The Canopus is a million times higher quality than the IO DATA that is just an Easycap/Clearclick clone.

Also the IO DATA cannot capture SECAM and struggles with PAL.

ProjectCharming6992

OBS is a cheap editing program not a codec. OBS is completely different from a recording codec. ProRes422 is a codec that presents a lossless appearance, but it does that by lossy compression.

ProjectCharming6992

No the IO Data does not capture proper NTSC resolution because its hardware is just Easycap hardware and only captures 1 field of the 2 fields that make up 1 interlace frame. It only looks like that from software apply “lipstick to a pig”. That’s a load of misleading misinformation.

ProjectCharming6992

This isn’t a movie, but “The Monsters Are Due On maple Street” from’The Twilight Zone’ would work pretty well. Maybe even slip it in between Frankenstein and The Mummy.

You have to remember another thing that Brian was doing when mixing the albums in the 60’s was mixing for mono AM radio and mono car radios. I think it was Chuck Britz a lot of times would have a cheap tinny speaker in the booth so that Brian could hear what a track would sound like coming out of the speaker on the dashboard of a 1950’s/60’s car, as well as how it would sound on a portable record player.

However, I find in digital, all the Beach Boys albums and tracks that are in mono are very centered on the audio channels and it sounds like only half of my speakers are being used. Whereas I put a mono album or 45 on the turntable with a stereo cartridge, my speakers no longer sound like they are being half used, now it sounds like the mono sound is using both speakers to their full potential.

ProjectCharming6992

I have the physical edition from 2003 and it has both books.

ProjectCharming6992

Yeah, at the time he wasn’t a Trek actor. Remember he was doing these between 1997 and 2003, so it’s been almost a quarter century since he was first involved with Trek.

I’ve only listened to “The Fall of Terok Nor”, since I bought the tape set when my local library was getting rid of it, and compared to say Rene Auberjonois, or Jonathan Frakes or Majel Barret or John Delancie, I found his reading was monotonous, since he did try to give different voices to the characters, it didn’t differentiate them enough, nor if he was doing Quark or Sisko or Kira, he didn’t try to imitate the actors.

ProjectCharming6992

The ultimate way to digitize VHS is to use a S-VHS VCR with TBC connected by S-Video to a high quality capture device like a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle from which you can capture in uncompressed 10-bit 4:4:4 lossless. That is the platinum way.

VHS Decode is not even close to the “gold way” and will give you a poor quality capture.

ProjectCharming6992

Even shielded a S-Video transfer can still introduce interference into the signal from the analog camera or even the cable itself.

Also ProRes422 is a lossy codec so you are not capturing a lossless signal with Prores422.

ProjectCharming6992

I still have some of the VHS tapes that were released. As well as the Circle Square Music Cassette, “Music Is A Language” cassette, Circle Square Volume 1 LP and “No Turning Back” cassette.

Here’s another interesting thing. I’m just doing a test with CTV News Channel Live through Microsoft Edge (CTV is in Canada). There’s no DVD comparison, however CTV offers 4 different options: Auto, Best (1080p), Good (720p), Data Saver (540p). The Data Saver option, on further investigation is only 360p, not 540p (it’s showing 640x360 in the Media Properties tab when I select the Data Saver option; the 1080p is showing 1920x1080 and 720p is showing 1280x720). However it’s interesting that as I’m checking it right now all three options are showing 16.811 Mbps for the 540p option and 16.811 Mbps for both the 720p and 1080p options. For all 3 options it was down to 8.211 Mbps about 5 minutes ago. All three options are as sharp as the other settings when jumping between 540p, 720p and 1080p. Why bother with the 1080p or 720p when the 540p is giving the exact same quality.
