Performance loss after U1.2?

Did anyone else experience performance loss after updating to 1.2?

If I recall correctly, I averaged 75-80 FPS before 1.2, but now I'm hovering just below 60 FPS. Dropping from RTX Ultra to previous setting barely changes anything, and I'm fairly sure I'm CPU-bound.

I'm running i7-9700k (4.6GHz), RTX 3080, 32G 3200 MHz RAM.

EDIT: I'm running the game at 2560x1440.

After updating drivers yesterday and rebooting, then resetting graphics settings to RayTracing Ultra (minus Motion Blur and changing DLSS to Balanced), I get 60-70 FPS, which is acceptable.

Yes I did, and I noticed there are more lights in a few places like the afterlife, more halos and haze around them etc. At night in the city the frame rate went crashing down with patch 1.2 for me. Oh and I'm CPU bound too.

Are you playing 1440p?

Does your load graph look similar to mine? I've added it to the first post, was in a gunfight, and then ran around the city on a clear day.

Tried various resolutions and didn't change a thing. Don't know about the graphs, I know that afterburner's showing the CPU getting real hot while the GPU stays at normal temps.

Gendalph [OP]

You can rearrange the graphs in settings.

Higher resolution mostly impacts GPU, if you're having big imbalance of CPU vs GPU load, you might want to google some tuning guides, I remember there are a few settings that strongly influence CPU usage, like crowd density and I think clouds.

Yes!. I noticed a lot of textures pop-up all the time, even worse when I drive. Also lot of stuttering, framerates dropping from 45 to the 20's. It used to be more stable..

I took Hayleys last name I’m sorry, I was more of an adjective myself so right on man

What? 🤣

I’m on a 3090 with a 3900X CPU running 3440x1440 (your resolution is the biggest factor and I didn’t see it posted) and my FPS is about the same a bit under 60 with basically everything on like a maniac and I’m hitting over 70 frequently. I added the resizable BAR update to see if it has an impact and am not seeing a difference either way.

2560x1440.

That's weird, I have a big fps boost (20%). 2070S, 3900x.

The german Games Magazin "Gamestar" did a test about this. The newest patch improved the quality of some lightning effects (but very minor things) which apparently led to a minor decrease of the performance (2-3 fps if I remember correctly). But the test was quite short so it could be that they changed more. Other people on this sub and I had the feeling there are more npc walking around on the sidewalks. I also witnessed a minor decreases in performance (3-5 fps. I'd say)

Gendalph [OP]

I don't think there's an actual benchmark in the game, so a short test would not be representative of the changes made.

I notice more pop-in, other than that performance seems fine for me, although I don't have an RTX card. Are you sure you're CPU bound? Sounds really weird considering how much more GPU power it needs compared to CPU.

Gendalph [OP]

After updating the drivers, the load got fairly balanced, which is weird. I was hitting high 90% on CPU and low-mid 80% on GPU. I have AIDA64 widget telling me FPS, load and temps, so yes, I am pretty sure.

More pedestrians and their (zombie like) AI means more CPU time required.

Dante897

Sure, but the card will probably hit 100% use easier on 1440p with RT on max settings before the CPU

XXLpeanuts

Very similar system here but with a 3090. Perf did drop a tiny amount for me, but I think game looks a bit better. Is this at 4k? For me i get 50-70 fps at 4k rt ultra and everything else maxed.

Gendalph [OP]

1440p, updated the post with a graph from Afterburner.

Frame rate is pretty bad now on Stadia in Visual mode. Used to hit 30fps solid but now it's all choppy and all over the place.

una322

3080 here , yup my fps has gone down by around 20fps. some dense city areas are really bad in firefights now. Last patch i had solid 70 fps on max settings no matter what i was doing.

Gendalph [OP]

Try updating drivers (to 465.89), it helped me a bit.

Valentip

I have noticeably worse performance with RT on with 1.2. But the worst part for me is that performance is inconsistent, during gameplay I'm usually getting fps dips from 40 something to 20 something at the same locations. And that degradation stays there until game restart...

Gendalph [OP]

That looks like a leak of some sort to me, should be fixable. I've yet to play the game for more than 10-15 min, so I can't comment any further.

millimidget

Try with Shadows and Reflections on, but Lighting off.

Gendalph [OP]

Made a couple FPS difference, but nothing substantial.

btdc00

am on 3060ti and ryzen 5 5600x and can lose 60-70fps in seconds and get them back like 10-15 secs later..right now it's unplayable, before I had no issues

Gendalph [OP]

They definitely changed something - game looks a bit different than it used to, but after updating GPU drivers and resetting graphics settings I got back almost all of the performance I had before.
