I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro from previous years and I'm planning to upgrade to the 16-inch. If anybody is using the 16-inch version, what are the pros and cons? Is it easy to carry, and how is your experience with the battery life?

16” is noticeably bigger and bulkier.

no way! 🤯

There are really no cons outside of the sheer size of the 16" and maybe the additional weight (it's about a pound heavier than the 14"). It won't fit on an airline seat tray or a cramped lecture desk.

Aside from the larger display, you'll get better battery life and better cooling (it won't thermally throttle as much under heavy loads, especially with the Max chips). The speakers also sound better than the ones on the 14" (more volume in the chassis to move air around).

I don't find my 16" M1 Max to overly taxing to travel with though, aside from finding places where it will fit at times out of the bag. I'll throw in my laptop backpack when riding my motorcycle and it doesn't bother me all that much.

I have read somewhere here and heard from someone who has it that its heavier and bulkier. If you travel alot and be on mobile with your laptop the 14th is better. The extra size screen is always nice. But i have the 14th and an extended monitor, works same way if not better. Its also a little but more expensive.

Just google it. Its a lot faster than waiting for anybody who has a 16 inch

Pros: Larger screen, if you are someone to whom screen size matters like a graphics designer, or video editor then it’s a big plus. Also louder sound.
Cons: if the pros don’t matter to you, then big con is its size and weight, for someone like me, I travel a lot and I hate 16 inch but can’t do anything as my company forced me to go up from 14 inch M2 Pro to 16 inch m4 Pro.

I have had both and as long you are not constantly sitting in very confined spaces like the train or plane, get the 16 inch. 14 inch is just too small for me i work a lot in coffeeshops etc

I have the M3 Pro Max 36 GB 1 TB. I love it. The battery life has been excellent. I need the largest possible screen, partly because my eyesight isn't great. But something no one ever talks about is that the trackpad is much too big (unnecessarily so, IMO) and that causes me, under normal use, to trigger actions I don't want or mean to. I've gone into the System Settings and turned off everything I could, to no avail. I'd love the 16" with the 14" trackpad.

Been using exclusively 16" since 2020. i'd never want a smaller screen again.

the 16” is so much better than the 14”. I went 16 > 14 > 16. the 14” felt so cramped to use and work on, and like a toy. the 16” is better for me in every category. yeah it’s heavier, but it doesn’t bother me, because what you gain more than makes up for it. keyboard travel feels better on the 16” too. it’s very subtle but I picked it up. battery is amazing. never getting a 14 again.

I'm a video editor and I got 16" instead of 14" and I'm not regretting it. I got much larger screen and more punchy bass than 14" model. The only downside I've faced is when I'm using it in a tight spaces

I have a M5 Pro 16 with 48gigs of ram and 1T ssd. I love. The screen is beautiful, it’s way more powerful than my needs. Battery life is great. Overall very nice. Only 2 downsides is it is weight and and size when it comes to going places. But a good bag makes it easier. I got a Targus bag for 17 inch and larger and it is very manageable.
