Brother. My inlaws are muslim, sure they think differently on some points but so do we. To them, we seem brainwashed. What we do in our family is let eachother be and dont push it where the "other" culture might be uncomfortable. Its not difficult. Sure group 2 has extremes and this definitely belongs there but I refuse to work for a company that employs group 2. Work culture tends to be toxic, people have massive egos, client relationships are exhausting and wages are usually lower.

I was recently looking for a new job, management seemed awesome and the responsibilities fit my experience, and then in the last round I realized the future colleagues are very much group 2. I quit halfway through the last round of interviews and Im proud of it.

I was just talking about the elections with the 15yo son of a German friend of mine. He was properly raging at the afd and linke. • In Spanish, its mostly referred to as a genocide
• In Afrikaans its fairly neuteal (was curious as they pushed the UN to start apartheid/genocide investigations)
• In Hebrew, while clearly supporting the Israeli p.o.v. it still feels pretty objective
• In German, it seems still a nono to report on it as a genocide. Its mentioned but not too much

400t truck drove over a hilux. Passenger splashed through the cabin and the driver's lower body completely pressed into a car pancake. Immediately had the worst ever urge to vomit and run, but knew I had to keep the guy awake for some 10 min for EMT to arrive. Handed over to EMT, finished my shift with seeing the medevac plane leave for the main hospital in our subcontinent, and spoke to my neighbor (on shift emt who also arrived first after me), and he told me to just fly out and give my wife, parents and dog a big hug.

I was proud I stayed with the guy and thought I was fine, but I caught 0 sleep and had panic attacks from the smallest things. Quit my job within a week.

For a serious answer:

The flood defense systems are largely ran by an entirely separate government. The waterboards are one of if not the oldest democratic governments in the world, with some being continiously ran around a 1000 years now.

They raise their own taxes so cant be budgeted away for whatever the political wind says that year. Also in case of major events and projects, the national government's ministry of infrastructure steps in to subsidize its projects.

We are currently well on our way to update all our dikes and dams to be 2050 - ready (as in, in 2050 they are still future proof), which is done by each waterboard identifying their major weaknesses and submitting them to the national waterboard asociation. The larger inter-board projects are also subsidized by the national ministry. We build our dikes & dams to be ready for another 50-100 years before needing upgrades.

The rising sea levels look like a dire issue but in reality, keeping ourselves dry doesn't even require 1% of our tax budget. Sure they are massive projects but by continiously keeping everything future proof, we don't actually pay a huge price for it. Its just about well placed investments and keeping politics out of it. There's a reason the waterboards aren't nationalized :-).

For reference, we have 23 waterboards in the Netherlands, with each running an area of about half a province, and they each raise tax individually so they cant even prioritize one area above the other - each waterboard's main objective is to keep its own area dry.
