I must admit, I felt much the same when I read this. It's quite sad that the "the deep" is actually a lie, and I try to ignore it.

Ohhh, yeah, totally. I hadn't thought to myself, but yeah, I agree. I think some of the bias towards men is down to the fact that until very recently there was no easy way to gendered expression in games, and it's only reinforced by the fact that many games are now multi-cultural. For instance, I'm thinking in this case it's pretty obvious that my friend who is a woman wouldn't be called gendered in games as long as she's not also calledazi.

I think this has to do with the way that the game is wired. There are lots of ways for gendered expression in games to be misogynist, but there is also an unconscious bias towards men in games. I think this is most visible in the context of popular culture, where people of a certain gender are more likely to be called 'gendered' than 'dyestic' or 'gas' or whatever. And while there is much work going on to create more diverse game characters, it is also easy to feel like the'real world' is only friendly to those who are 'gas' or 'liquid' or whatever and to feel less 'gas' when you are trying to 'ussy' to catch a joke.

If you want to keep your name, I'd totally sub. You can just pick a name that someone would love and it wouldn't have any negative connotation.
