It's nice to see the family celebrate Gekiha's success (well, other than Kirei who still supports Aposdolls) even if Gekiha didn't actually do much, is still smarting from Akane dumping him twice, and what Gold Lios' existence means for him as a pilot.

How is the company going to beat their rival to getting Dandivine toys into the market? By becoming a sweatshop! But nothing motivates toy nerds quite like the prospect of getting to build a figure of their busty supervisor. Shinonome knows how to hook 'em.

Enter Suruga Uekara (Tetsuya Kakihara!) an arrogant, condescending, dick who plays by his own rules and morality, transfers to Gekiha's class, and immediately acts like he owns the place. He even tries to have everyone bid on his services as an athlete, not expecting that no one would want anything to do with him, would force him into gruntwork, and then not respond well when he just...beats everybody up. He also rejects all of Gekiha's attempts at sympathy. Luckily Go puts him in place.

Uh oh! Akane reading him the riot act has made Uekara smitten with Akane! And then their entire class becomes about everyone discussing/sussing out how Akane actually likes! And she genuinely thought it was Yusaku before finding out he wasn't piloting Dandi Ace that time! For a split-second, Gekiha's love rival was his uncle and not his alter ego as Dandivine's pilot.

"Phenomenal Phenomenon" - Say that five times fast! But when everything turns black and white, it's a sign of a new Aposdoll attack!

Gekiha once again gets clobbered in Dandivine, but Gold Lios isn't much better. Uekara can't work with someone else but he's so simple-minded and straightforward that Gekiha can accurately read his attacks AND use that to land a two-pronged attack on the regenerating split Aposdoll! Great job Gekiha!

Gekiha and Uekara have no idea each others' identities...but is Uekara attacking Dandivine? Is this because of his father, Shinichi, who had a bad opinion of Yusaku?

Not to mention Rieri voice.

Fuu and Ferio are a match made in green and out-rizzing each other.

Fuu's cute, calculating, and effortlessly charming but even she isn't immune to Ferio's Matsuoka-certified rizz. Considering she's mostly played old school JRPG's, romance must be pretty new to her!

Honestly, Alcyone was a Baddie, but I can't 100% begrudge a woman willing to do anything for love...even if it basically doomed her.

If I had a nickel for every high-class and sassy Best Girl with water magic and the ability to unleash an attack summoning a dragon made up of water, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but was Noelle Silva based in part on Umi?

I love how she straight up told her their name and they never even bothered to call her that lol.

Admittedly she WAS able to hold her own against powered-up Hikaru, she just didn't expect to get a full-on blast from Umi.

Also gave Ferio a Mokona seal of approval to make the girls more willing to work with him.

Though felt like they ran out of time to do Fuu's magic as spectacular as they did Umi's lol.

Our Magic Knights have encountered a mysterious stranger in the forest of silence: Ferio (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka!). Can he be trusted? What are his true intentions? But if Mokona likes him, that's enough for Hikaru! Mokona obviously must have a good sense of character!

The girls aren't from "Fahren" or "Autozam," but they ARE heading the same way Ferio is to gain Escudo and also help save Emeraude. And with their intentions align, Master Negotiator Fuu is able to talk Ferio into becoming their bodyguard! She probably has a great career as a politician in her future.

Convenient that after claiming they know the way Mokona actually points them in the direction outside the forest.

And it's a good thing to because there are plenty of monsters for Ferio and the girls to battle, requiring both sword skills and their wits to overcome. Though Fuu needs better battle instincts if she freezes like a deer in headlights when she's about to get a flame blast to the face...before Ferio saves her. Then what's heating up is the romantic vibes between the two of them as Fuu gets all flustered over Ferio, Ferio sees her genuine, winning, smile (and her without glasses), and his complimenting her beauty has her blushing red as a tomato!

Sorry Umi, you're quest to become a Magical Girl will have to wait as the group encounter Alcyone II outside the forest. Alcyone was once Emeraude's Sorceress, but her true loyalty isn't to Cefiro or to Emeraude but to Zagato, the man she loves. And she'll do anything for him, even tear Umi apart, to fulfill his ambitions!

Note to self: NEVER hurt Hikaru's friends if you don't want a super-charged volley of Flame Arrows headed your way. That's the power of will in all it's fiery glory! But Alcyone is still a decent match against her with her experience and ice magic! Fire vs Ice in a dazzling bevvy of magic attacks!

Ferio saving and complimenting Fuu left her smitten, but her resolve for the Magic Knights to face Alycone by themselves seems to have left Ferio smitten!

Umi may be down but she's not out, not when her friend is in danger, and luckily for the group that Mokona provides telepathic communications with Clef who can pass on his knowledge of magic...and let Umi unleash a WATER DRAGON that consumes Alcycone and leaves nothing but her forehead crystal! The battle is won!

And just so she's not left out, Fuu also gains Healing Wind that manages to completely restore Umi! The Magic Knights come out of this battle stronger and more closer as friends than ever, the truest strength that will help them overcome any challenge!

Terra-Man is a fun character in any context.

Mora really draws Vixen like she's straight from the cartoon.

I'm glad Carter was brought in to try to talk sense into Ray even if Ray ends up chewing them all out. I dunno, feels like Ray is spiraling and doing a lot of shady stuff for some reason.

Nia in that posed picture with Waller just looks funny to me.

Who better to mentor Nia than the character that she was inspired by and connected to: Dream Girl! Albeit not classic Dream Girl, but Omega Legion Nura. But even if she was formerly evil she still looks amazing in a leotard and can't help but criticize Nia's fashion sense. Yep, they're related!

Did Nia's costume change at the end? I couldn't really tell. Also, why is she still wearing that bomber jacket?

It's interesting how these vampires all have such "official" names - Lady, Viscount, Baron, Father, etc.

Was Lady truly able to care for a human being as anything more than a source of food? Did she truly care about Helmi? How did things end for them?

Understandable that, upon threat of dealing with a vampire, the officers unload their bullets...but no one wants a bullet-riddled Zatanna.

Guys' narration makes it sound like he's talking to that little girl from future solicits. I do like how obviously fond he is of Kyle here.

It's just funny to me going back and looking at the JSA Book where Jade was so non-committal about whether she and Sand were in a relationship and now she's the one insisting she and Kyle are dating again. Kyle is her one true love.

Nice to see Tom Kalmaku back in prominence and involved in this event, especially to help Hal.

I love how Kyle has absolutely no idea what craziness has been going on in GLC. Not even the readers of GLC really get what's going on!

In the interest of an issue focused on all the girls in Kyle's life, we get him being reunited with Soranik (which is as awkward as you'd expect especially since she doesn't apologize for how she treated him last) and ALEX BEING REVIVED AS THE NEW BLACK HAND. Jeez Kyle!

This ending sure went by in a flash. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it also feels like "well, that just happened?"

In this three-way battle between Batman, Savage, and Ivy for control of Gotham, Batman wins by doing the right thing of publicly arresting Ivy and putting a cap to this event. Though Savage getting his head bitten by Killer Croc helped too.

So Steph's new cover identity is Betty Cox? Will that be true for her Clu identity in Gangs of Gotham as well?

I wonder how much of Jo's nihilism towards humanity is from becoming synthetic, the last imprint of that feeling of betrayal, or from her amnesia? Is it all a self-projection to avoid dealing with how she really feels about becoming a Synthezoid so she doubles down on embracing it and the culmination of her greatest work?

Move over Council of Kang's, now it's the Council of Ultron's! Who also promptly kill one of their own and the only one trying to make them reflect on their actions (at least ostensibly). Classic Ultron!

They didn't have the budget for a full sequence of Ultron and Jocasta in their true forms conversing though they made the two visuals of them together in their true forms as impactful as possible.

Ultron, a robot who sees humanity as a disease and wanted to destroy them, but finds himself still obsessed with them and their culture. Jocasta, a Synthezoid who was once human but now rejects humanity, embraces her new synthetic existence, and is planning to "cure" the disease of humanity through Transhumanism.

It's funny how Jocasta is the "Bride of Ultron" but this is legit the first and only time they've ever had romantic chemistry and it not being Jocasta rejecting anything having to do with Ultron. Then again this Jocasta is more human and Ultron is James Spader, so...

The black and white coloring gave the dynamics a kind of Film Noir vibe.

Ultron couldn't help that whole visitation setting could he? Just had to rub it in for good measure.

Ultron, despite everything, craves connection. A feeling of completeness. A meaning to his existence.

Vision and Ultron are father and son, whether they outright acknowledge it or not, and that both makes them deeply connected and deeply adversarial at the same time.
