Yikes, didn’t mean to start that argument. I have traveled for work and personal reasons to various places within the US in my life. The physical act of going to the airport or the car, driving/flying, the hotel, the costs, the restaurants or other food arrangements, navigating sites or locations, traffic, etc. It’s all exhausting to me. I used to joke (back when they were common) that if I wanted to see the sites, I’d buy a calendar. I went to the Grand Canyon once. It was fine, I suppose. The trip was still a pain in the ass. I lost paperwork, it cost hundreds of dollars (this was decades ago). I can only imagine going to another country.

Over the years I’ve had jobs want me to go to other countries for work (or even travel domestically) and I do my best to avoid it. Yes, I am in the minority opinion, but just because I’ve been to other parts of the US and not the world doesn’t mean I don’t have enough experience with travelling to know it’s not something I value.

Exactly. I’ve had to fly and/or drive, stay in hotels, etc. enough within the US to know that I don’t want to go any further distances. I try to avoid it whenever possible.

Hm, this was interesting. I’ve never heard of this ban until now. I’m from the US, never been to China and never will (I hate traveling and have never left the country), which is probably why, so I was curious and looked it up. The reason they cite is “interference with aeronautic communications equipment” but it really just sounds like local economic protectionism. Which is just hilarious that China, of all places, is engaging in a protectionist strategy. Given the nature of their government and economy they can definitely do it, but the hypocrisy is off the scale.

Their internal polling numbers must be rough because they are really doing a full-court press. I don’t remember anything that felt desperate like this from Republicans in the past. Disgusting, of course, but this and the others have an urgency that feels different.

It doesn’t matter who Republicans plug in. So many people will always vote Republican, no matter who it is. They believe that Democrats are evil and there is no swaying them. The best Democrats can do is try to motivate as many people who are their base and genuinely persuadable to show up and vote.

I didn’t know that Modell hated it. That’s even more reason to use it.

An acoustic coupler? Holy crap, I’ve never noticed them there. That’s literally 1970s technology. I guarantee no one has used that other than maybe some vintage tech enthusiast in the past 15 years at least.
