To be fair the difference in usage over the winter period is massive so if they're covering just a short period to flatten the price spike out then I'll take it. They still need to make money, this just makes it hurt a little less.

Beans a little too close to the egg. I may want to mix them, but I want that to be my decision. Use a sausage as a breakwater.

I've posted this exact topic in here before. I think a dishwasher only becomes worth it when there are 3-4+ in the household. Two people create so little mess that there's far less hassle in just washing most of your cooking stuff up as you go, then taking care of the last few plates and cutlery etc after dinner.
Washing up by hand is also a relaxing exercise where you can switch your brain off for a few minutes, and it gets the whole job done right away. Or you can intersperse it with ither jobs. Wash up, leave stuff to dry while you clean another room, come back and do the next round. It's probably my favourite routine domestic task.
Dishwashers are annoying. They take some items out of circulation for a bit. If I made gravy for dinner and then threw the pan in the dishwasher I now need a new pan to heat up the custard for my dessert. You end up having to own more stuff because sometimes the things you need are in the wash.
Also it postpones part of the clearing job to later. When I'm in cleaning mode I'll put the dishwasher on, but by the time it's done I'm relaxed and not thinking about sorting the house out. I don't want to do it by then. If I wash by hand I can just dry and put away and it's done.
It takes up the space of a whole cupboard. There's already a washing machine and a drier. Now a third cupboard is given over to an appliance I don't even want? Boooo. Give me kitchen space!
They break. It's also another thing to go wrong.
They don't always do the job right. I sometimes still have to do the stuff by hand anyway, which is more annoying than if I just did it that way first time as I thought I was at least saving a job.
With four or more people a single meal fills the entire dishwasher. You have to use more stuff to cook and to eat, so it makes a bit more sense. I still prefer not having one though.
I don't think 'convenience' is automatically good for you. We've spent the last six thousand years or so as a species removing obstacles from our way, but every time we do that we remove elements if work and routine from our daily lives that we think are annoying, but are actually good for us. Focusing on a single monotonous task for half an hour means there's no 'input' to process, no stimuli, no technology to interact with. You can just 'be.' We simultaneously need that, and perpetually seek to avoid it because the boredom is uncomfortable. But boredom is where ideas happen. It's where we deal with the things we're avoiding. It gives the brain space to breathe. Unfortunately it is now possible to have almost every boring task done for you, so you have to create your own obstacles!
By all means have a dishwasher if you want. But, having had one before, I'm far happier without.

Surely that's always implied when someone says that? Obviously I assume some people find him funny.

I like Daisy in this purely because she has to work so hard not to laugh. It's the same reason I don't mind Nish Kumar on a panel show. He's not funny, but he finds other people really funny and expresses it well. It just makes him likeable!
It's sort of like they've let an audience member come in to have a go.

First time in about four months I've made an audible noise when finding something on Reddit funny. I'm immediately going to use this all the time.

I'm self employed and I've never understood it tbh. If you want to buy a house or whatever you can only use your declared income for your mortgage affordability. All these people should have learnt their lesson during covid when their SEISS payments were based on declared income too.

I've had quite a lot of success at getting money off things in situations like this. Often the thing itself is actually ok, just the colours are wrong.

What's wrong with cream? I almost never have it in the house because health, but around Christmas there's usually a tub of double cream in the fridge and fuck me if that week isn't the best coffee I have all year! Only needs a tiny dribble compared to the amount of milk you'd need to get the same colour, but the difference is massive. I'm a blue milk drinker too, so it's already pretty creamy.

I'd love to have data on whether more swearwords were yelled at Boris Johnson or Joe Wicks when they were on the telly.
Granted I put JW on voluntarily, but seriously? A third set of burpees!? Fuck you Joe!

For me a comedian stops being funny once they're predictable. Some have a very clear 'style' that means you can see the jokes coming a mile off. Once you spot the pattern they lose their edge. So yeah I think being a one trick pony in comedy is probably a bad thing.

I guess the point I was making is that anybody can fall down a rabbit hole of shitty views and find themselves unrecogniseable at the end of the process.
Reading someone's account of how that happened to them, even if they don't realise that's what happened, is probably a good way to avoid those same pitfalls yourself.
Obviously submitting "this cunt is a cunt" as the foreword for the book is not going to make the cover. If he thought the book was good then that's what he should write.

To offer the most meagre defense of Ayoade possible, it doesn't actually say that he agrees with what Linehan has written in the quote.
The prose can be good and the tale worth hearing without negating the fact that the man is a shitbag. There's probably quite a lot to learn from Linehan's telling of events (even if it's revealed in unintended subtext through moments where he tells on himself that he isn't aware of). Anyone that thinks they couldn't fall into a similar mental trap to that which has befallen him has already taken the first step towards it.
