They caused billions in damage because they were fighting an alien invasion and stopping the city from getting nuked by the only authorities involved...

When you get lifesaving CPR you don't howl about how the person who did it needs to face repercussions for cracking your ribs.

IHaveAScythe

The prior movies used to justify the Accords don't really make sense, though. Like, it's honestly kinda atrocious how Ross brings up the collateral damage caused in New York during Avengers 1 and absolutely no one stops to go "hang on, you guys were literally going to nuke the city." Same with DC - it isn't Cap's fault the government got taken over by Hydra and made ultra-mega-super-surveillance helicarriers, and the alternative to the destruction he and Natasha caused in stopping those carriers was literally Nazis taking over the world. But apparently the response to Nazis infiltrating the government and getting stopped by a rogue hero is... that the heroes need to obey the government? The only part that really checks out is Tony being on board because of his guilt from Age of Ultron.

IHaveAScythe

You're the one who said financial holes, and you were trying to say someone else was struggling with object permanence lmao

IHaveAScythe

Twice, actually. Project Ares was their second attempt at making a StarCraft shooter.

IHaveAScythe

AoE still gets support and has multiple DLCs dropping this month. We're literally about to get a new Dawn of War later this year. And new RTS games are still being made. The genre is not dead just because it's not as big as the latest CoD or whatever.

IHaveAScythe

rts isn't a dead genre, it's still getting new games and those games are still getting support. It's not as big as it used to be, but it's definitely not dead.

IHaveAScythe

Idk about recent stuff, but I can confirm he's consistently been a stupid asshole in X-23's stuff.

IHaveAScythe

I was fine with not having access to every vanilla unit when I started in 8th, I'll be fine with it again, it's quite literally what I initially signed up for. I'll admit the divergent books then were done better than the cult books now (seriously, wtf is the EC roster GW?), but the current state of my Space Wolves roster is already a bit of a stupid mess as is, so at least get rid of the idiotic need to balance vanilla stuff for my rules & units (and vice versa).

IHaveAScythe

Given that we're literally about to get a big update for all CSM factions so they don't get left behind with the marine stat changes, I don't know how much I buy that we need supplements just for rules consistency. We were getting erratas to keep divergent chapters in line at least since 8th edition's SM 2.0, before the divergent supplements happened. And 8th was still doing rules updates tied to the yearly chapter approved books back then.

And I don't really see the slight differentiations as a problem. I look at WE getting tweaked datasheets for their vehicles and I miss that sort of thing.

Not to mention going back to separate books means you don't have to deal with anymore of the dumb issues where the White Scar detachment is really strong with Space Wolves units or whatever.

IHaveAScythe

That's how it used to be. GW rolled us all into the vanilla codex halfway through breaking the monogod legions out into their own books and it's aggravated me ever since.

IHaveAScythe

Valgavoth is a literal demon who loves torturing people. How on earth does him dragging someone who failed him back to punish them not seem serious.

IHaveAScythe

Yeah if the loss in sales was really enough to turn them off doing an index edition, they'd have kept charging for index rules like they did in 8th.

IHaveAScythe

There's literally a whole thing in the comics where Thor goes "oh shit Gorr's been killing gods for A THOUSAND YEARS and NO ONE noticed." Like regardless of what you think about him being DPS, tf do these people mean Gorr being sneaky makes no sense lmao

IHaveAScythe

It will never not bug me that GW for some reason decided to roll the divergent chapters into the main marine codex when they were halfway through spinning the CSM god cults off into their own books. Especially when the way they did army rosters for the divergent chapters before rolling them in feels like the best way to handle the divergent chapters/monogod legions - my Space Wolves didn't just have access to our unique stuff plus the entire vanilla book and all its rules, but we also weren't in a situation like the non-DG monogod legions where they feel barebones and like they're missing units they should have access to.

IHaveAScythe

I don't know that I'd really agree with that - not even having legends in their list builder (something they're admittedly slowly changing this edition) seems like a pretty strong indication that they didn't actually think those datasheets should be used in games.

IHaveAScythe

... do you think people's problem with primaris was that it was new models at a better scale? And not, you know, literally everything else? Did you miss that marine players were all universally happy with the loyalist terminator refresh.

IHaveAScythe

The bloat is absolutely not because of keeping Firstborn around lmao. There's so much bloat with the primaris that simply did not and would not exist without them. When I started in 8th edition marines had 3 troops choices (which I'm fairly confident was already the more than any other army), by the end of 9th they were up to SIX, and it was only that low because Scouts got moved out of being troops.

And the idea that primaris is somehow what they needed to do kinda falls apart if you just... look at CSM? Like literally, why was it so necessary for balance and the speed of the game to split devastators into 6ish different kits and datasheets but simultaneously totally ok for CSM to keep Havocs? Why do intercessors and assault ints need to be separate kits and datasheets when CSM just have legionnaires choosing between a boltgun or a chainsword?

IHaveAScythe

That's because that's the only one left. It's a bit confusing, because for boxnoughts they axed the regular dreadnought kit last edition but removed the venerable dreadnought datasheet when they did. Not really sure why.

IHaveAScythe

Yeah, because your new kit is still ork boyz. Your new truck is a truck. Your new biker nobz are biker nobz. Maybe they got some extra wargear options. Your boyz didn't get replaced with "Big Orcs TM" that in-lore have completely eliminated ork boyz from existence because they're just that special and who specialize in advanced, not-ramshackle technology that always works as expected.

IHaveAScythe

That's because the new ork Boyz aren't a completely separate unit whose lore is specifically that they aren't ork Boyz and are so cool and special that ork Boyz completely stopped being a thing.

Like, would you have been happy if instead of updated biker nobz, GW just axed the old kit and said "you have a datasheet for squighog riders, why are you complaining?

IHaveAScythe

The Rhino and Predator both have "Chaos" kits that throw in an upgrade sprue though?

IHaveAScythe

If GW doesn't get the points increases right, this edition looks like it's just gonna become "get your codex or be ready to lose," and I don't know how much faith I have in GW to get the points right (though they have gotten better at balancing so maybe there's hope). And that's just not going to be fun for anyone on either side of the table.

IHaveAScythe

I don't think that's it, CSM have predators too, don't they?

IHaveAScythe

I'd argue it's far less about change and far more about the real reason so many people dislike primaris, which is that they're all bland and samey as hell. "These marines have a variety of armor marks and helmets in the kit and aren't all in identical suits of power armor" was literally the baseline for firstborn kits, not the big draw for GW to market a new kit.

IHaveAScythe

Yeah, people love to act like primaris were/are hated just because it was a change, and not because they made marines so bland that "hey these guys don't all have completely identical armor and helmets" was genuinely part of GW's marketing for the marine half of this edition's launch box. The bar got buried underground, but apparently you're just a grumpy old man for recognizing that.
