Thanks a lot, I will try that!
JustChilling01
Okay thanks a lot. After seeing the picture I figured, too. How often would you suggest I should put him in a damp warm towel
JustChilling01
A little tip from my side: for him this is not about learning to climb. I don't want to cast judgement if and how much they can learn but in this specific scenario he would fall no matter if he has the skill to climb or not.
They hold onto the surface with their belly scales and for that they need traction. The desk is super smooth. You can see him struggling and searching for a rougher surface to hold onto or wrap around but the mousepad and keyboard are also smooth. Same reason why they sometimes struggle to move on our skin. Either too little traction or because it is sticky.
I offer my boy my hand or a few fingers against which he can press himself and lift himself up on the desk and also offer some support there if he has problems moving. There are videos of snakes on really smooth blankets moving in the same spot cause they can't push themselves forward with their belly scales.
Give him a little support on any smoother surfaces (especially when there is a fall possibility) cause this is not about skill and learning but about physical limitations.
JustChilling01
Yeah he is going to be biiiiig. I wouldn't be surprised if he has already put on a few more grams
JustChilling01
Mine once started monching on the neck and actually worked himself towards the butt...like guy... The easier end was right there...
JustChilling01
Oh true now I see it too lmao
JustChilling01
No worries, love to share. It's just standard PLA. For this I didn't do much, I sanded it off so there would be no sharp edges where he could hurt himself.
From my research, there are 2 possible dangers with 3D printed stuff: sharp edges and also bacteria can settle into the gaps between the layers.
JustChilling01
Yess it is and yes he loves it!
JustChilling01
Didn't weigh him in some time since he is eating regularly and I am not worried about his weight. He did have a growth spurt since the beginning of this year (from 114 to 144) so may still be from that? I'll weigh him again after he shed but for a guy he's already grown relatively big with his 2 years
JustChilling01
They grow up so fast :')
He's a bit over 2 years old. We got him April 2025 and he shed in August 25. Then again in around March, then in July and now again. Every time has been a perfectly clean shed but the change in frequency confuses me.
He definitely plans on being a chonk tho. He already puts 140g on the scale
JustChilling01
So his last shed has been in pristine condition. He is actually the best shedder ever.
He is a bit over 2 yrs old so still young. We got him April 2025 and he shed in August 25. Then again in around March, then in July and now again. Every time has been a perfectly clean shed but the change in frequency confuses me
JustChilling01
Mine should theoretically know me but sometimes he is a little skittish and forgets my existence. He then instantly inches back when I am just coming near his enclosure.
I always feel so terrible and tell him in baby voice "oh no darling, I'm so sorry, please don't spook" :')
JustChilling01
The lower one definitely looks like a wound so I'd put her in quarantine. If I see it correctly though it started closing so she'll hopefully recover soon. I'd keep a close eye on her and don't hesitate to go to a vet if you see any behavior changes.
The upper one is actually a belly button. I've also learned about this on this sub. So this one will be visible but there is nothing to worry about that one. It gets smaller the more sheds they had.
JustChilling01
What I did when my boy got stuck:
I used some neutral cooking oil to make freeing him easier. I gently cleaned him up afterwards with some water (just to get off some excess oil) and a paper towel.
I put him in a quarantine box over night (no dirt so nothing could get into potential wounds) and had a look at him the next day. Also after it happened I carefully touched him there to check if he flinches to gauge how badly hurt he was.
He was actually fine but also his scales were just a little crooked which was barely noticable after a day which is why I didn't take him to the vet. I also poked him a bit at those spots to see if he would react any way.
Yours looks a lot more hurt so I'd definitely recommend a vet visit. Until then: quarantine box
JustChilling01
Oh yeah the wfh part really does help. I try to sit next to his enclosure when he glass surfs and I open the door for him (he doesn't even hiss anymore when I open it in front of his face so I think we are getting somewhere) but the not being able to do anything part is killing me.
I guess I'll start crocheting again or something like that to keep me busy...
JustChilling01
That's what I try to do, too. Sasuke just needs a lot of time so it kind of feels like my arm is falling off :') I'll just train myself in some more patience then.
I was wondering if I did something wrong so thanks for the reply <3
JustChilling01
How did you teach it to him? Do you have any tips? I'm trying to teach mine the concept but he isn't as fond of it yet.
JustChilling01
Reddit somehow has something personal against me posting videos. This post was actually me trying to upload the video and it told me the file was unfit (though all requirements were met). Now I have this shadow post that I don't know exists till someone comments...second time this happened
I had another post with just pics where I gave someone an update. I examined him yesterday (the day after) and he has no swelling and showed no reaction to me touching him there (sweet boy just kept on curiously bleleleling). He generally acted normal so he seems to be a happy and healthy noodle :)
JustChilling01
True. Just took him out of the smaller enclosure and had a good look at him, also touched the sides of his mouth. It was neither swollen nor did he flinch so it is actually pretty safe to say he is indeed fine. I'll keep an eye on him the next few days to calm my mind but as of right now he is all good. I'll not call the vet as of right now since he didn't even hiss or even showed any reaction to me touching him at the spot in question and just kept on curiously bleleleling.
JustChilling01
Thanks...me too :') <3
Had all possible nightmare situations in my mind. He will probably be fine but I actually rather worry too much than too little.
JustChilling01
Oh yeah that's a good idea, thanks. I'll see if I can reach her :)
Wait you're gonna love my boy. He really likes to be MAD and oh boy can he be a flat fuck. This is my favourite pic of him being really mad. I dared to slowly open the glass when he was glass surfing so he went up and out and was like "I AM THE MIGHTY MAD, WHO DARE DISSSSSTURB ME??" (he is used to it now but still goes into cober mode sometimes)
