I've learned through experience that the typical person won't do a tiny bit of emotional labor on someone else's behalf unless they are actual friends. Crafting a polite rejection message is a tiny bit of emotional labor.

For the record: if I go on a date and I'm not into her I always say so. I might hit the block button right after that because I'm not interested in a reply.
