So are you pro age verification and Anti-privacy, or just uninformed as to what this bill will actually do?

SaveDnet-FRed0

they don't care about transparency, they care about the risk to there profits... At the same time Bill C-22 is a horrible totalitarian bill that needs to be killed.

SaveDnet-FRed0

yup

SaveDnet-FRed0

that just makes Eby's decision all the dumber

SaveDnet-FRed0

Google is against the bill not for the reason they claim but because if passed could harm the way they do business in the short term and in theory could open them up to lawsuits in the long term if data they handed over due to this law was then illegally abused. But the bill if passed would also critically undermine the privacy of Canadians and undermine Canada's digital sovereignty in the long term.

Your welcome

SaveDnet-FRed0

Not be bloody hypocrites.

If there Anti-AI then they should pay for all the AI they've used as by there logic they've committed crimes using it.

If they are Pro-AI then they need to shut the ---- up and accept whatever people do to there stuff with AI.

SaveDnet-FRed0

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much tampering have you witnessed Trump/MAGA crony's attempt to do so far, 1 being surprisingly not much 10 being they've already rigged all the machines to invalidate all non-republican votes.

link to source?

SaveDnet-FRed0

Trump once he realizes this: This "internet archive" is recording info I want deleted, I want this "internet archive" deleted! I want it deleted now! MAGA!

SaveDnet-FRed0

So there company ideology is to dive 100% into the deep end of the AI, and then the moment someone starts using it in a way that actively harms them all of a sudden it's theft? Wow, what hypocrites!

But ok, sure, let's go with that. So how are Microsoft and Epic Games going to pay for all the theft they've done using AI?

SaveDnet-FRed0

As someone who is a Canadian. Yes.

Trump has shown Canada over the last 2 years that Canada's continued reliance on the USA is actively dangerous. If Trump were to be kicked out tomorrow Canada would probably slow down there efforts to move away from the US quite a bit as the urgency would be removed, but they would not stop.

SaveDnet-FRed0

Your comment has thankfully aged poorly.

SaveDnet-FRed0

And they shouldn't. Even if the Dem's take control of both the senate and the house Trump will still be president and wile they will likely curtail Trump that will likely take time that Ukraine may or may not have.

SaveDnet-FRed0

I'm not disagreeing. I HATE Google with a burning passion. But if Google wants to help prevent Bill C-22 from becoming law then I welcome there public support in regards to this 1 bill.

SaveDnet-FRed0

There excuse is BS. There not worried about surveillance and transparency. There worried because this bill if passed could harm the way they do business in the short term and in theory could open them up to lawsuits in the long term if data they handed over due to this law was then illegally abused. Also openly standing against this bill is good PR for them.

BUT more importantly this would also critically undermine the privacy of Canadians and undermine Canada's digital sovereignty in the long term.

The EFF did a better article talking about it recently but that prominently links to a petition witch I'm pretty sure would violate this sub's rules, so I posted this article instead.

SaveDnet-FRed0

ok, didn't realize that was a thing, I'll delete my post then.
