Google is against the bill not for the reason they claim but because if passed could harm the way they do business in the short term and in theory could open them up to lawsuits in the long term if data they handed over due to this law was then illegally abused. But the bill if passed would also critically undermine the privacy of Canadians and undermine Canada's digital sovereignty in the long term.

Trump has shown Canada over the last 2 years that Canada's continued reliance on the USA is actively dangerous. If Trump were to be kicked out tomorrow Canada would probably slow down there efforts to move away from the US quite a bit as the urgency would be removed, but they would not stop.

As i understand it Metro Vancouver was already in the middle of an election cycle when he called for the snap election. In other words one of the worst possible times he could have triggered it because now everyone focusing on the Vancouver election now has 2 back to back elections they had to deal with witch can be VERY annoying. On top of that a razor thin majority is still a majority, so him calling for a snap election makes him seem greedy. On top of that as I understand it the BC Conservatives were also falling apart and in response to this snap election that all rallied together.

That's 3 issues that Eby pointlessly created for himself that he probably wouldn't have had to deal with if the BC Conservatives had triggered a snap election.

And this is to say nothing about possible vote splinting with the green party since as I understand it BC uses first past the post instead of Ranked Ballot or Pro Rep. for there voting system.
