You mean higher damages? You can ask for whatever you want in non-economic (pain and suffering) damages. You just have to convince a jury (or, sometimes, a judge) to award it.

Punitive damages are much more difficult to allege and to prove. And the plaintiff only gets to keep 30% of punitive damage awards. The rest goes to the state crime victim’s fund.

I don’t completely disagree, but I think you underestimate the stranglehold the billionaire class has on the Republican party. It doesn’t matter what his philosophy is - the GOP no longer truly follows any guiding principles. They are a party of billionaires, billionaire toadies, neo-fascists and nihilistic edge lords. Money, power and cruelty are all that matters.
