Congrats on the current progress! I'm also working on a coop multi-player using Mirror (using EOS transport though). I relate to a lot of what you said. Keep it up!

I love this genre, I used to play a lot of Pummel Party. They had some fun interactions on the board as well, shotguns, missiles, poison... There was a very funny killer bunny as well.
It's impressive work for a solo dev, was that time fully dedicated to this or was it part time while doing other things? I've been working for "3 years" in a personal project but only during some of my free time.

Hi, game developer requesting flair to post about Dodecagon, a physics-based merger game for Android.
ejpzdev
To add to what most people are saying: I've been working full-time time as a game developer since 2008, and right now I'm on the longest in-between paid projects since then. Going to 6 months now. I'd say, keep using your free time to learn as much as you can, but also finish and publish your own small games while you do it. Personally I've spent too many years working on other people's games and only started caring about personal projects and releasing them a couple of years ago. Don't make that mistake.

Dodecágono es un juego de merge tipo Suika, pero con polígonos regulares y power ups. Además de la versión web en itch.io también hay versión en Google Play Store
Gracias!

Looks awesome, congrats! I don't know if it's me, but I see a bit of jitter in the ball when it starts moving. If that's the case maybe try enabling the rigidbody interpolation.

WGJ (Women Game Jam) is a jam mainly focused on women and gender-diverse people participation. You can participate remotely and they have venues in several countries (not in the UK, AFAIK). It's in August so you have time, but inscriptions are via a form so keep that in mind (you can't just join the itch.io jam and send a game).

I think there might be an issue with how you're using the assets or what you're including in the build. So using that build report or similar ones from the asset store would be a good first step.
ejpzdev
Steam would be a more suitable platform than itch.io for a game that size. But it sounds like it's too large, your should add this package https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/[email protected]/manual/index.html and generate a report, that way you'll have a better idea of what is making the build so huge

I didn't start my day thinking I'll be spending 2 minutes balancing a worm on top of a groundhog, but here we are. Awesome concept and demo, congrats! I completed the survey BTW, best of luck with the game!
ejpzdev
I would add gif tuna, handbrake and avidemux to the mix. And paint.net with the psd extension in my case haha
ejpzdev
Git Extensions is my personal favorite. I use the dark theme. It has a lot of shortcuts and it works very fast compared to others like source tree
ejpzdev
Yeah exactly, if you have a game or at least some advanced prototype released as a result that's completely valid work experience. I wouldn't call it a gap.
ejpzdev
Congratulations, hope is the first of many!

Great work so far! The only thing missing I think it's a bit of water-like distortion, I was looking at it without audio at first and it's not immediately obvious it happens under water
ejpzdev
Yeah this was exactly my concern, that if I make a chat system without reporting features in place then it could become a big headache. I think for my first version of the game I might not have it at all and then see if it's worth the hours based on how the game does. Thanks for your input!
ejpzdev
Yeah I've wondering about this, I want my game to allow people to communicate and maybe coordinate to play together again in the future, without adding a friend system. So a simple chat would be the best option, but there's always a risk associated. I think having good filters and blocking malicious intents could be enough for my use case, but I won't know until I try it.

Hi, I believe these 3 games fit your request:
4trees, shape pattern matching, gets really challenging at advanced levels.
Dodecagon a game I made, physics-based merger (like suika but with power-ups and regular polygons). There is also a web version.
Astral Ascend, a climbing game with super easy inputs and minimalistic art, lots of cool skins. Only web version available.

I've played Core Keeper, V Rising (custom settings, increased drop rate), Valheim (moded with Valheim plus), Raft, Ravenswatch, they were all pretty fun with 2 friends. I've also heard great things about Arc Riders, but haven't played it myself yet.
ejpzdev
Looks really good, impressive work!
ejpzdev
I don't have a game on steam yet for you to wishlist. But I wanted to thank you for dedicating time to help the community!
ejpzdev
Looks amazing, congrats on your decision and best of luck!

I tried it both on a phone and a PC. I think the mobile experience could be improved in a few ways:
* Virtual joystick felt too sensitive at start, I saw you can tune it down but I would set it lower by default.
* Right stick vertical axis looks down when you point up, which for some of us doesn't feel natural, so including an option to reverse it would be ideal.
* The game loads on portrait but the experience is not really good. I would add a popup stating this (at least recommend people to rotate their phone to landscape orientation for better experience).
Now more general feedback:
* This is obviously an early version but I would look into making the robots more visually appealing in the future. There are good free art resources out there that can surely help with that (Kenney, KayKit, other free 3D assets)
* The ball feels a bit slow at times, like it has too much drag. It also stops mid-air sometimes when you hit it high. Not sure if this was intentional but I'd look into just letting it go, or if you want tutorial iterations to be faster, just teleport the ball back to the player.
* The character also felt slow, but I haven't tried all robots, just the first one.
* The crowd sounds are an important part in sports games, however during tutorial might be a bit too much as it is.
Hope this helps, it's all meant constructively! Great work so far!
Sorry deleted this one because I reposted it twice to this sub by accident!
