Fair work act - let me know when you’ve dealt directly with the fair work commission.

And yeah businesses protect their owners’ assets from legal liability. Employees generally don’t have significant assets, they just have their salaries which are effectively massively exposed in our society.

Businesses also have the safe harbour rule, taxation avoidance structures, better access to deductibles, etc.

Because some individuals sit on monopoly rents, that’s not the exclusive preserve of huge corpos.

So there’s the value of the land/resources, and then there’s the value of the work to improve/extract it. We already know how to split these, it’s not that complicated. Something is still worth doing even if you don’t personally know how it works.

explain_that_shit

How about we don’t tax people while they’re working, and just tax them when they’re not and sitting idly on their monopoly rents?

explain_that_shit

They can keep the value of their labour but they didn’t make the value of what’s lying under our feet, that belongs to all of us.

explain_that_shit

What protections for workers? And businesses get tons of protections, including a shield from legal liability.

explain_that_shit

Workers aren’t productive?

And fine, charge it on non-productive assets like unimproved land values - there’s no deadweight loss.

Some women aren’t into tongues or toys.

Doesn’t the opposition believe the same thing, aren’t they planning to continue the war?

One squirt of soap for your armpits, face, then over your body but avoid your crack and front bits. Then clean that all off with water. Second squirt just for crack and front bits. All done and dusted, unless you need to do more like shave or pumice your feet or something. Also unless it’s freezing, turn off the hot water first. The cold water will cause your pores to close up which will prevent spots.

This is incidentally also why a Hail Mary threesome doesn’t solve the problem. You don’t want sex, you want your partner to want to have sex with you.

I don’t think they vote for their preferred outcome, I think they expect right wingers to succeed more than they do. Right wing gambling types are in media echo chambers and believe more conspiracy theories about stolen elections after the fact; this is a cohort that will naturally tend towards betting on their horse.

explain_that_shit

Yep, I think a fair chunk of people on this sub are right wing libertarian non-landowners who, credit to them, like the idea of low taxes on themselves, but beyond that could give maybe one shit about the policy prescription for high land tax but no shits for the expansion of the principle to taxes on rents charged by other monopolies or oligopolies.

“No no, this stone definitely has more blood in it. What do you mean, extract blood from something with blood left in it? I have blood, I’m certainly not taking blood out of me, and not my friends either!”

explain_that_shit

But I think you’re imagining the perfect rational investor…in election betting markets. Those markets involve gamblers who are not rational and about elections, about which people are notoriously irrational.

explain_that_shit

But that’s what I’m saying about left-wingers - we don’t want to gamble on elections, as a character trait. I’m making more money than that off other investments. And that’s the exact mechanism by which the betting markets remain right wing, here in a nutshell.

explain_that_shit

Because I’m left wing and I don’t like gambling on elections. I invested in Nvidia in 2023 instead.

explain_that_shit

But the bettor in these markets tends to be more ideological than astute, based on the results we see.

explain_that_shit

Left wing people would have a great financial opportunity here to take advantage of this known bias, but left wing people don’t like gambling or making an election about personal financial benefit, so the cycle of prediction markets skewing right wing will continue.

No it’s me I’m the leader of Antifa we just tell you everyone’s a leader to make you feel better

“I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White citizens’ “Councilor” or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice”.

Who ‘starts’ most wars? Classic to suggest that violence isn’t usually reciprocal and reciprocally caused; that paradigm of thought is exactly the problem we need to end.

explain_that_shit

I agree, high land taxes, not others. But businessmen don’t want the high land tax either. And they want services they benefit from directly - spending on stimulus for their industry like weapons manufacturing, subsidies for businesses like aged care, flock cameras to protect pipelines. These people want more money for them and less money for others. That’s what tax reducers find when they get into power - they, and the interests who fund them and which they represent, DO want government spending, on them and their interests. It’s a carousel of bullshit. Businessmen won’t raise land tax, and they won’t reduce spending overall.

In South Australia it would be surprising, they all got booted off to Victoria last decade with liquor licensing reforms cutting off their laundering schemes, and haven’t been seen in years.
