A weird correspondence between M's family, who are desperate to betray one another, and M choosing H, who is likewise desperate to betray HIS own family.

Are Spain not very good at rail safety? Or is the sample size too small to be relevant?

tmstms

Maybe it is a rare instance where I am going to get some of it.

Radio 4 did a programme on this in a series called Toast which discusses the rise and fall of products or companies.

it was developed because coal tar a by product of coking production was accidentally discovered to have medicinal properties and could be applied on toilet paper.

Obviosuly its hardness meant it was displaced by softer products.

Its relatively long survival in the UK was much helped by the public sector. Obviosuly it ws much cheaper (3x) so public bodies looked for a reason to retain it. They did biological tests which showed that the fecal bacteria did not transfer itself over to the hand through the paper, because ofc it was not really absorbent.

So it was not abolished till long after it disappeared from most households.

Maybe I am simple-minded. Even I will remember this as a giveaway whereas an allowance on Internet, phone and water would be too diluted for me to care.

The government would argue that if bribery helps return it at the next election, it will see it as money well spent.

I say it is good, though I do not live in London any more. Before the congestion charge, I was comfortable driving in the Oxford St area, though most of it was ofc bus lanes for many years, so not driving much on Oxford St itself, So I saw that area periodically. I think the benefit of being able to walk freely in that area exceeds the inconvenience to traffic, if private cars etc are already excluded.

She could have made her case even stronger with the football dimension in William's bantz. For me personally, that is what resonated with me, especially the idea that he confessed to posting anonymously in fan forums leading to lots of speculation he lurks in THIS subreddit.

tmstms

She still has the stock and the expiry date is approaching.....

It reminds me of the supermarket cartons of milk here that say; Allergen info: contains milk.

wikipedia says- like apple sauce, but the apple has been cooked longer so it caramalises and turns brown. Nothing to do with dairy butter.

If M can make money from bottom feeders, that may enable her to survive, but it is inimical to H's project of being restored to the family fold. It's another Zugzwang- they can't do nothing, because there are too many big questions. But whatever they do takes them further away from the RF, because it embroils them in sleaze.

Isn't just mildly redistributive/ progressive?

I mean, we are very careful with the heating, and £100 is about 6 weeks of energy use for us in quite a decently-sized house of about 133 sq m., even though the days when we spent £45/month are long over.

£100 is going to make a massive difference to our energy bill and will probably earn the government some lasting goodwill with the non-tribal voter in the household. (I vote for my MP because she went to the same college as I did).

tmstms

Dunno, Vox pop in my household is that it is a great idea. It is enough money as a lump sum to feel worthwhile.

tmstms

Ironically, paying off the energy bill!

It's an unfortunate dilemma. You crave publicity and also need it to sell your wares. But publicity means either being asked difficult questions, or having a sanitised interview where the entire room is filled by a big elephant.

I honestly don't know where H and M go from here.

They seem to be losing more credibility (from an already low base) hour by hour.

I don't see who wants to have anything to do with them now.

It does not really matter if M did anything bad at all in the matter of her father and her brother. The problem is that no celeb, no charity and certainly no member of the RF wants to have this whole world of sleaze and Markle in-fighting anywhere near them/ it. It would just be a lot of hassle for nothing.

Charities know that H and M won't now have any clout to bring them any money. The Palace 'private citizen' letter means no-one who is anyone wants to have them around at a social gathering and no-one who has any official position wants to validate them with an invite.

Ofc I could be wrong, but honestly, I think the Thomas Jnr interview and revelations have holed H and M below the waterline.

tmstms

Oops!

tmstms

In hindsight (just in a matter of a day or two!) immediately issuing a statement saying 'NOW can you see why I did not have contact with my father?' might have been unwise if the follow-up question is 'Why did you then hide all this for X years and indeedpublicly praise your father?'

tmstms

I'm actually thinking that what M is coy as to talking about might be separate from the focus of the inquiry, but just being questioned by the FBI is something scary if you have grey areas in your past life.

But in anycase, it cannot be good either for As ever as a luxury brand or the intended charitable work, especially whereinvlving children.

tmstms

As soon as turnout increases among the young, then parties will pander to them.

tmstms

It's easy enough to go before or after work one day every 5 years. I think the problem is to get younger people convinced the political process is meaningful.

tmstms

Maybe the problem for M now is that she does have skeletons in the cupboard. If she were interviewed by the American authorities, even in a context where she is essentially innocent, she fears that some of these things would come out.

So it is not that the authorities are actually looking for anything to do with her at all, it is just the fear that things are going to get exposed.

This article is your friend!!

https://en.idi.org.il/articles/18577 from which, this summary, notice especially the first sentence, which I have bolded, ha.

Remarkably, although the population of Israel grew by a factor of 14 since the country's first elections in 1949, the size of the Knesset has remained the same. This means that back in 1949 the MK to citizen ratio was 1:5,000. As of 2017, the ratio is 1:71,000. Applying the cube-root formula to the Israeli case [the size of the parliament should be the cube root of the population] teaches us that back in 1949 the actual size of the Knesset was larger than would have been expected (120 vs. 84) but that today it is far smaller (120 vs. 204).
