I launched my Kickstarter this morning. Here's what the last 3 weeks (Steam Next Fest + free demo) actually looked like, in numbers. (self.SoloDevelopment) [Marketing]

Thanks. Partly right: Italy is my biggest single country, but it's only about a third of the wishlists (34 of 116). The US is second, then Brazil, Russia, Poland. The press replies, though, are 100% Italian. So I'll push harder on Italian streamers and Discords, but I can't drop the English side either.

Good point, and you're right that they're different things. 772 is Steam's "licenses added" (people who clicked Download during Oct 13–26), 20 is unique users who actually launched the demo in the same window. So the funnel is grab → launch, not download → finish. From what I've read that gap is normal for Next Fest demos, but 2.5% launching is still low and I don't have a good explanation yet.

The 3–5 watched sessions is the right call. I only have one recorded session so far (a friend) and I never watched anyone play blind. Doing that this week.

glad it helped! i think the black hole can stay the exception, it's the big finale so it's fine if it costs more and you have to earn it every time. good luck with it

ok i played it now and i think i get it. you pay for every tool twice: coins to unlock it, then every run you have to collect resources again to build it. so even after unlocking something you start every run weak like before, and the unlock doesn't really feel like progress. maybe once you unlock a tool you could start the run with it, or at least make the first build much cheaper

underskingame

haven't played it yet but reading this i think the issue is it's all one straight line. coins, next tool, more coins, next tool, black hole. you never really choose anything so it feels more like grinding than getting better. maybe let people pick what to unlock, and make each tool change how you play instead of just keeping you alive longer. also check the first runs, if you get like no coins at the start people probably quit before the fun part

i'd have taken up a lot more space if i'd said i made it with AI: that would have started yet another post with tons of views. by saying a real person made it, i'm not opening a pointless argument, but a real discussion where people can talk and exchange feedback. and yet you're the one wasting our normal discussion space :)

good question, and honestly i haven't set that part yet. your idea makes a lot of sense though: the mind doesn't heal in one second, so the grit should fade out slowly, not switch off. i'm sure the composer working on it will think of something like that, and anyway i'll bring it up during the revisions, ahah.

so i'm not the only one spending money on stuff i end up not liking. i paid for a main theme that i'm already having redone, and a lot of sprites that i paid for and won't put in the game because they don't convince me at all. i get it, though: either you give the artist room and trust them, or you describe every single thing.

grazie davvero, anche per il tempo che ci hai messo a guardarlo

underskingame

thanks, really, this is the kind of answer i was hoping for. you're right about the gray and the stiff feel, a lot of what you see in that video is still placeholder and the new sprites are coming in bit by bit. the kills needing a real bang is a good point, i'm taking that one. the rooms and the layout change every run actually, but if the video doesn't show it that's on me, the next trailer has to make it obvious

underskingame

grazie, hai ragione, prima di spendere altro in promozione provo col trailer corto e vedo se cambia qualcosa. i numeri sparati negli altri post mi avevano mandato in paranoia

underskingame

underskingame

certo, eccola: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5133830/

sull'ia hai ragione, all'inizio l'avevo usata e me l'hanno fatta pagare. adesso gli sprite li stanno rifacendo artisti veri, un pezzo alla volta. dimmi pure cosa non ti prende della pagina, anche se fa male

underskingame

Sembra una Hit

Bellissima sensazione, congratulazioni

Mi viene voglia di provarlo

6 downloads on 56 views isn't the bad part, that's like 1 in 10, the bad part is only 56 people saw the page in 3 days so it's more traffic than the game imo. DOOM in caps reads like a doom mod and the tagline just says it's a demo, i'd lead with the two hands shooting and the sanity eating the level cause that's the hook. also 425mb for a free demo from someone nobody knows is a lot, a browser build would get way more plays on itch. (making a game with a sanity stat too so this one hit close lol) are you linking the steam page at the end of the demo?

underskingame

Needed this today. My page has been up for a month and I'm sitting at 18 wishlists, and my last post barely moved the needle. Good to see real numbers for once. Next Fest in October with a demo is my shot, fingers crossed.
