DKs are the one class I'd be happy with them adding, assuming the lore fits. To me, classic WoW is everything up to Cata. Definitely no monks or later though.

wOlfLisK

I'd be happy with that as long as DKs and Wardens are mechanically identical (maybe with some flavour changes like DKs dealing shadow damage and wardens dealing arcane for example, maybe with a unique spell or two each like priests get). I think it would be fun to have races that are locked to a single race but there needs to be a similar counterpart for the other faction. The shaman/ paladin split was bad because they were just too different.

Wait, so why do people keep telling me to fuck the police?

Retconning it to be actually the Titans meddled just feels like ruining the established universe due to fan theories and backlash.

See, I disagree. The Titans are literally the beings of order. Light and death being more ordered than the other three makes sense but if death is perfectly structured and ordered then what does order have the others don't? To me, it would make a lot of sense for the Shadowlands to be a construction of the Titans (probably with help from their death titan counterparts) that orders death even more than it already was to push it all towards a goal of some sort. Prior to the Shadowlands, maybe the realm of death was ordered simply because it was stagnant. There's simply no real entropy, it's just a dead, lifeless void.

Just because the Shadowlands is a titan construct doesn't mean everything in it has to be as well. Maybe the Titans can't directly influence the realm of death so the Winter Queen (and maybe the other eternal ones) assisted in creating it. The First Ones might have created the realm of death but that doesn't mean the Titans couldn't later come along and change things.

My theory has never been that the Titans are bad, just the things they're doing are a few levels above our pay grade and they're just indifferent to mortals. To me, the shadowlands being a titan construct makes sense but they're not doing it for evil reasons or for good reasons, just that it helps them in their battle against chaos in some way. The apiary theory makes a lot of sense in that it gives them a way to harness death to create more life which in turn creates more death that can be turned into more life. They don't care much about the specifics so they created the Eternal Ones to do the day to day stuff and they're the ones that care enough about mortals to give us the afterlives we want instead of just stuffing us all into a big pot of anima and leaving us in the basement.

I wouldn't mind Sargeras returning at some point, assuming the story is written well (it won't be) but having him as an ally would completely destroy his character. At best I could see a temporary truce with the Burning Legion so we can work together to take down a void lord (after all, their entire thing is killing things so they can't be corrupted by the void, taking down the thing corrupting everything benefits them too), ending with them betraying us to free Sargeras.

Yeah, you can argue whether Dimensius was evil or not but at the end of the day, his very existence was a threat to ours. He exists to consume, nothing more and nothing less. There's no master plan, he just wants a snak.

Apple has a history of being very unfriendly to third party repairs so you'll have a much harder time finding somebody who can fix it than if you had a Samsung or other android phone. Folding phones look cool but they just don't last.

Sure but when you try to attract all players you end up with Retail. Players inherently want different things. Some players want fast, flashy combat with lots of quality of life and convenience and competitive PvE, others want a tightly balanced PvP game with classes that have access to everything and others want a slower, grindier RPG where you need to manage your stats. Trying to attract all three types of players is a disaster because they all want mutually exclusive things and you end up sitting in the middle where nobody is happy.

wOlfLisK

You realise there's a difference between correlation and causation, right? Just because some estimated raid numbers have gone down doesn't necessarily mean the player numbers as a whole have gone down. It just means fewer people are raiding. Estimates are simply estimates, they need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Forever definitely has a better new player experience than WoW's strategy of throwing players into Dragonflight and hoping for the best but unfortunately they mentioned that levelling isn't something that interests them. If they're just looking for end game content then Midnight is the way to go, it'll just be confusing at first.

wOlfLisK

The endgame was trash but I firmly believe that the open world content was some of the best they ever did in WoW. The zones all felt so great and separating the islands by Alliance and Horde was a great idea that really helped push the feeling of going back to the Warcraft roots.

100% PvP. RP-PvP has sometimes had better organised events but has never had close to the popularity of PvP servers.

wOlfLisK

That's fine, the two players playing on it can duel each other every other Sunday.

wOlfLisK

I don't think anybody's saying the rulesets won't survive, just that they're going to be impacted by this change in a negative way.

wOlfLisK

What's the plan for this addon going forward now that RP-PvP is a thing? Will development continue or will it just be assumed that players who'd want this will be rolling on the RP-PvP server and won't need it?

wOlfLisK

Yeah, they can always add a new RP-PvP server down the line and give players the option of a free transfer. They can't really close the ruleset without pissing a lot of people off (and would they merge it into RP or PvP anyway). The only way I can see of them walking it back is adding some form of Warmode to the game and merging the PvP rulesets into the equivalent PvE ruleset.

wOlfLisK

I really think they should bring Warmode over to Forever (with changes to make it fit better). Right now there just isn't enough room to add new rulesets (I'm not talking UI here, I'm talking about the number of options overwhelming new players). What happens if Blizzard wants to run a Solo Self Found ruleset event or an "Oops, all Paladins" one? Are we going to get one for PvP and non-PvP in addition to the 5 we already have?

wOlfLisK

Yeah, there would have been a good sized world PvP community on the RP server, especially with Overlord and HonorBound being a thing. Now, anybody interested in PvP will just roll on the RP-PvP server instead of it being blended with the rest of the RP realm.

wOlfLisK

On the other hand, it would have meant a decent sized community for world PvP on the RP realm. I like flagging myself for PvP at times and seeing what happens but I don't necessarily want to be forced into it 24/7. I also worry that it'll just turn into the PvP2 ruleset rather than being Grobbulus Forever.

Yeah, I spent one afternoon this year casually wandering the frozen food aisle in my local Sainsbury's hoping the staff wouldn't notice I wasn't buying anything 😂. If you don't work in an office building all you can really do is wait.

Although to be fair, it's usually not that bad. Up until the past few years we'd just have a week of 25c+ weather and then we'd be back to normal. This year we got an entire month of 35c+.

wOlfLisK

There were a few times when the lag got bad and it wouldn't let me turn in a quest but yeah, it was incredibly smooth overall. I'm pretty hopeful launch will be good although I'm also expecting far more players than the stress test had so we'll see.
